MUKANGWA SIAME SHINES BRIGHT AT ZAMBIA CLOSED TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS
MUKANGWA Brooklyn Siame made headlines at the Zambia Closed Senior Tennis Championships in Ndola with a breakthrough performance that saw her reach her first-ever senior semi-final.
Mukangwa opened her campaign in dominant fashion, defeating 9th-ranked Violet Mulenga of Nkana Tennis Club 6-3, 6-3 in the first round.
She followed up with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 win over Faith Mwelwa of Green Buffaloes in the second round.
In the quarterfinals, Mukangwa shocked everyone by defeating third-seeded Natasha Chewe, also of the Green Buffaloes, 7-5, 6-2 in a calm and unflinching display.
However, Christabel Chisongo, tournament top-ranked player, ended Mukangwa's dreams of playing singles-final as she proved to be a difficult opponent during semifinals.
Mukangwa came out firing, winning the first set 7-5 after soaring to a 5-2 lead. She, nevertheless lost the next two sets 6-2 and 6-3, but her perseverance and tenacity were evident the entire time.
Mukangwa’s run at the tournament is a testament to her growing talent, discipline, and potential.
Her performance has not only earned her national attention but also cemented her status as a promising player to watch in Zambian tennis.
