Mkushi Town Council Holds Final Full Council Meeting for 2021-Elected Civic Leaders

‎Mkushi Town Council on Tuesday, 13th May 2026, conducted its last full council meeting for civic leaders elected during the August 2021 General Elections, marking the end of their term in office.
‎In a speech delivered at the occasion, Mkushi Town Council Chairperson Melson Chilemu highlighted a number of key developments and achievements recorded during the outgoing council's tenure, citing significant investments made through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

‎Among the notable achievements outlined by Chilemu were the following:
‎452 groups and cooperatives benefited from the Constituency Development Fund, receiving a total of K11.9 million
‎384 community projects were funded to the tune of K72 million
‎1,186 students were enrolled under skills training programmes, with K16.8 million allocated towards the initiative
‎2,942 boarding students received sponsorship amounting to K9.6 million
‎93 individuals accessed loans under the Constituency Development Fund, benefiting from a total of K13.9 million
‎More than 10,000 desks were distributed to schools across the constituency
‎
‎Chairperson Chilemu's remarks painted a picture of a council that made considerable strides in community development, education, and economic empowerment during its tenure.
‎The conclusion of the full council meeting signals the transition to the next chapter of local governance in Mkushi as the constituency prepares for a new council following the upcoming electoral cycle.
