MONGU CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANISATIONS DEMAND THE IMMEDIATE REVIEW OF THE CONSTITUTION AND INCLUSION OF THE BILL OF RIGHTS

Mongu civil society organisations which includes, women organisations, youth organisations, children's rights movement, good governance, church e.tc have demanded the immediate review of the constitution and inclusion of the Bill of Rights.

The civil society organisations (CSOs) says not amending the current Bill of Rights means that Economic, Social, Cultural and other Civil and Political rights may be violated without effective remedies or compensation

In a joint communique read by Youth Activist Head of programs, Ms Namukolo Mate, the CSOs made mention that they are aware that UPND government in it's party Manifesto committed to revive the process of expanding the bill of rights to integrate economic, social and cultural rights

The CSOs further stated that they are saddened by the seeming lack of clear road map by the new dawn administration of the united party for national development (UPND) in terms of reviewing the constitution and facilitating for a national referendum for the inclusion of the expanded Bill of Rights

Speaking during the meeting, Raphael Mayungo a youth from New Apostolic Relief Organization (NACRO) said government has enough resources to fulfill and to protect Human Rights.

Meanwhile Justin Mushoke from Action governance forum (AGF)said the current Bill of Rights is not adequate because economic, social and cultural rights are not included.
