"BEING A WIDOW IS NOT A CRIME" – ANNA MWITWA CONDEMNS CHARACTER ASSASSINATION IN MUFULIRA CENTRAL RACE
Aspiring parliamentary candidate Anna Mwitwa has called for issue-based campaigns in the Mufulira Central Constituency race, condemning what she described as “politics of character assassination” targeting her personal life.
Speaking in an interview with Yours FM on Saturday, Mwitwa said some political players have shifted focus from development agendas to personal attacks.
“Being a widow is not a crime. All aspiring candidates should just concentrate on informing the electorate on what they plan to do in Mufulira Central Constituency. I don’t believe in politics of character assassination,” Mwitwa told Yours FM.
Mwitwa did not name any individuals but stressed that voters in Mufulira Central deserve manifestos and solutions, not personal smear campaigns.
The Mufulira Central seat is expected to be hotly contested in the upcoming august election, with unemployment, youth empowerment, and infrastructure among the key issues facing constituents.
Mwitwa urged fellow contenders to respect the electorate by focusing on policy and development plans. “The people of Mufulira Central want to hear how we will fix roads, create jobs, and improve healthcare. That’s the conversation we should be having,” she added.
