NRPUP CANDIDATE DENIES PARTY WITHDRAW CAMPAIGN FUNDING

John Kampengele Ward aspiring councillor under the National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP), Andrew Zulu, has denied claims that the party has withdrawn financial support for his campaign.

The denial follows remarks by NRPUP District Chairman Jacob Chongo, who said the party had withdrawn its financial support from Mr. Zulu over alleged misconduct.

However, speaking to Mafken News, Mr. Zulu said he has never received financial assistance from the party since its inception, adding that he personally paid his nomination fees and has been financing his campaign.

Mr. Zulu said the issue stems from his support for independent candidates Misheck Moyo, who is contesting the mayoral position, Anna Mwitwa for Mufulira Constituency, and Kankoyo aspiring councillor Bishop Ed Chomba.

He maintained that, as a Zambian citizen, he has the right to support candidates of his choice, including those outside his party.

Mr. Zulu has challenged the NRPUP leadership to publicly state what financial assistance it has provided to him since he became a candidate.

Kansuswa Residents Raise Security Concerns Following Death

Some residents of Kansuswa in Mufulira District have expressed concern over security in the area following an alleged incident in which a man identified as Joseph Luwi was reportedly struck with a brick and later collapsed.

Sources who spoke to Mafken News said the victim was rushed to hospital for treatment but later died.

The incident has reportedly heightened fears among residents, who are calling on the Zambia Police Service to intensify patrols in the area.

The residents have also appealed to the Drug Enforcement Commission to strengthen efforts to address alleged drug-related activities in the area.
