ZAMBIA POLICE SERVICE
LUSAKA HEADQUARTERS

SUBMISSION OF FINGERPRINT FORMS BY NEWLY EMPLOYED TEACHERS
March 21, 2025-The Zambia Police Service would like to urge all newly employed teachers to submit their fingerprint forms at their respective District Education Board Secretary’s (DEBS) offices upon obtaining their letters of appointment. The fingerprint forms will then be forwarded to Police Headquarters for the required criminal record search. The procession fee is K200=00 (Two Hundred Kwacha only) and there is no express procession fee for this process. The fee shall be paid by depositing in the respective banks as guided by respective police stations where the finger prints will be lifted from. Further we would like to encourage the public to make use of the online portal https:eservices.gov.zm to make payments. We would like to emphasize that individual submissions of fingerprint forms at Police Headquarters will not be entertained. Designated officers at Police Headquarters will be solely focused on processing the fingerprint forms submitted through the DEBS offices. The Zambia Police Service assures all newly recruited teachers that the processing of fingerprints will not, in any way, hinder their ability to report for duty or commence work. However, it must be noted that those with criminal records who knowingly proceed to report for duty will face automatic revocation of their appointments once identified. This measure is in accordance with the conditions of employment and aims to uphold the integrity of the recruitment process. We call upon all affected individuals to adhere strictly to this directive to ensure a smooth and efficient process.

Chipangali Council Chair Calls for Free Passage to Malawi for Affordable Fuel.

Chipangali Town Council Chairperson Maxson Nkhoma is calling on authorities in Eastern Province to allow Zambians to freely cross into Malawi to buy fuel at more affordable prices.

His comment follows Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba’s call to regulate the illegal trading of petrol imported from Malawi, which he said is posing a danger to people and the safety of property.

However, Mr. Nkhoma says Malawi offers fuel at 18 Kwacha per litre, making it an attractive option for those seeking relief from high fuel costs in Zambia, where the price remains at 36 Kwacha per litre.

Mr. Nkhoma explains that the situation has been caused by authorities' failure to deliver on their promise of cheaper fuel and urges them to stop penalizing citizens who are seeking affordable alternatives.

The council chairperson states that many Zambians are struggling to cope with the rising cost of living, hence the need for authorities to address the situation.

Caritas Chipata calls for banning of political party regalia from national events.

Caritas Chipata Director John Mthadziko Zulu has suggested that political party regalia be banned from national events to avoid incidents of violence among political party cadres.

Mr. Zulu says national events like youth day, women's day and Independence Day among others should be used to promote national unity and not division.

He says instead of parading political regalia; national colours should be encouraged on important national events.

Mr. Zulu has condemned the violence that left 32 window panes at the school hall at Lundazi Boarding School damaged.

He says findings by Caritas Chipata suggest that the area Member of Parliament, the District Commissioner and Council Chairperson had different camps thereby creating tension among their supporters.

Mr. Zulu has called for political maturity to differentiate between national and political events.
