In as much as nursing is a noble and great profession, my life has never entirely depended on my nursing papers, here is why;
The harsh reality today is that degrees alone are no longer a guarantee for success. I’ve seen people with impressive qualifications remain stuck because they’ve MASTERED THEORY but haven't mastered any PRACTICAL SKILL. One nurse almost took her life after being left out of government recruitment. Another person took his life after loosing his USAID funded Job. This is a reminder that entirely depending on job postings can be a dangerous trap.
The truth is, skills are universal currency. When the job market shuts its doors, your skills can unlock new opportunities. What you KNOW HOW TO DO will always be more valuable than what’s WRITTEN ON YOUR CERTIFICATE.
Proverbs 22:29 (NIV) says, "Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank."
This verse shows the power of excellence and mastery. When you hone your skills, opportunities to stand before great people naturally follow.
Don’t sit idle waiting for life to hand you opportunities, go out and build them. Shift from simply hoping for employment to creating value through skills development. Invest in learning, adapting, and mastering new abilities. Degrees certify you, but skills sustain you.
Remember, visibility follows value. The more you sharpen your skills, the more opportunities will find you. Keep pushing, keep growing, and keep creating. Your BREAKTHROUGH might be just one SKILL away.
The question is not what you are schooled in, but what you are skilled at!
