Zambian Music Icon Dandy Krazy Passes Away After Tragic Road Accident
Lusaka, Zambia — In a devastating turn of events, Zambian musician Wesley Chibambo, popularly known as Dandy Krazy, has passed away following a road accident that occurred on New Year’s Eve. The beloved artist succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of January 2, 2025, at the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka, where he was undergoing emergency surgery.
The Accident
The fatal crash reportedly took place in the Kapiri Mposhi region. It involved a collision between Dandy Krazy’s vehicle, a truck, and another car. The accident claimed the lives of three individuals on the spot, with several others sustaining injuries. Dandy Krazy was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but could not recover despite the best efforts of medical staff.
National Mourning
President Hakainde Hichilema expressed profound sorrow upon hearing the news, calling Dandy Krazy an “extraordinary artist whose music and charisma transcended generations.” The president extended his condolences to the artist’s family, fans, and the Zambian music industry at large.
Dandy Krazy was a household name, known for his unique musical style that resonated deeply with Zambians. His song “Donchi Kubeba” became an anthem during the Patriotic Front’s 2011 election campaign, solidifying his position as a cultural icon.

Many have shared heartfelt messages celebrating his contribution to Zambian music and remembering his vibrant personality. Renowned artist and close friend Slapdee wrote, “The industry has lost a giant. Rest in peace, my brother.”
The Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM) released a statement, saying, “Dandy Krazy’s legacy will live on through his music and the impact he had on the lives of millions. He was not just an entertainer but a voice for the people.”
