Luano Town Council TRANSITION IN LEADERSHIP

The year begun with some transition at Luano Town Council in the Council Secretary office, where Mr. Emmanuel Lukupwa whose transferred from Sesheke Town Council has replaced Mr. Innocent Mutambo. Mr. Mutambo bid farewell to Luano Town Council where he saved as Council Secretary and Joins Kasama Municipal Council with an elevation as Town Clerk.

Let's welcome Mr. Lukupwa (Left Photo) and support his administration and at the same time let's Congratulate Mr. Mutambo (Right Photo) and wish him well in new role as Town Clerk.

TO: ALL UNPAID FARMERS IN LUANO DISTRICT
FROM: THE DISTRICT COMMISSIONER, LUANO

SUBJECT: URGENT NOTICE ON FINALISATION OF FARMER PAYMENTS

This notice serves to inform all unpaid farmers in Luano District that the Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ), through the Ministry of Finance, has directed that all outstanding payments to farmers must be completed by 10th January 2026.

To ensure this deadline is met efficiently, the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has introduced two additional payment methods to complement the traditional cash payment over the counter. These are:

1. Payment via Mobile Money
2. Payment via Bank Account Transfer

ALL UNPAID FARMERS, especially those wishing to be paid through mobile money or bank transfer, are ADVISED TO VISIT THE DISTRICT OFFICE AT MASANSA MAIN without delay.

Action Required:

· Collect a Farmer Payment Form from the Luano District FRA office.
· Indicate your preferred payment method on the form.
· Submit the fully completed form together with:
· Copies of your original receipts (PRCNs)
· A copy of your National Registration Card (NRC)

Important:

· Farmers who submit their completed forms and documents EARLY will receive payment on the same day.
· The district office will process your forms and forward them for payment authorisation.
· For audit purposes, all original documents will be securely filed and later submitted to the regional office.

Your cooperation is essential to ensure a smooth and timely payment process.

For any clarification, please contact the Luano District FRA office or the Provincial Marketing Coordinator for Central Region.

A BLAZE OF AN HEADER SEES CHIPOLO-POLO EARNING A POINT.

The CHIPOLO-POLO boys tussled this afternoon in Casablanca against Mali in the AFCON TOURNAMENT which saw Mali leading with a 61' minute strike of the second half from Lassine Sinayoko in the a forward player who plays for French side Auxerre in the French ligue 1.

Just as before the Referee could pimp on the watch to check time progress, Patson Daka converted a chance into a 92nd minute goal, in the additional time with a blaze of an header from Mathews Banda cross. This sees Mali and Zambia level with 1 point each as the group A opener.

CHIPOLO FACES MALI IN AFCON

Zambia Men's Football Team fancy their chances of progressing from Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group A and will be desperate for a str0ng beginning against Mali.

This makes CHIPOLO boys' first game in this year's AFCON tournament in the Stade Mohamed V stadium in Casablanca, Morocco.

LUANO DISTRICT RECORDS OVER 400 HIV NEW CASES.

LUANO District this year recorded over 400 new HIV infections from the over 23,000 people who were tested.

Luano district health director Bwalya Chipoya says the 433 new infections in 2025 is a drop from the positive cases noted in 2024 at 773 from 32,418 tests.

In 2023, 13,560 individuals were tested for the virus, of which 593 were positive.

“In terms of numbers in 2024, we distributed 8,000 condoms and this year we have gone to 15,000 condoms in the entire district,” Dr Chipoya said.

He said in an interview that the results were captured at health facilities in different parts of Luano.

Dr Chipoya said it is encouraging that people have continued going for voluntary counselling and testing (VCT) and if the results are positive, those affected are placed on antiretroviral therapy (ART).

He said sensitisation on HIV and AIDS has continued along with distribution of condoms to help prevent the spread of the virus and other sexually transmitted diseases (STIs).

Dr Chipoya said condoms are distributed through routine programmes and when facilities make requests.

He said the district health office has also been distributing condoms in collaboration with stakeholders, considering financial constraints and distribution of health facilities, especially the ones in Luano Valley.

Dr Chipoya said health officers continue to educate people on health matters, especially STIs, and how they need to protect themselves.

Old Mkushi Madalaz hosted Masansa Madalaz at Water fares football ground in Old Mkushi, The host took a lead with Bonaventure Mwila's score which later Masansa Madalaz equalized to square the scores through a penalty shoot.
Old Mkushi Madalaz took a lead with Steven Chirwa's strike seeing Old Mkushi Madalaz carrying the day with a 2-1 score.
