PRESIDENT HICHILEMA AND VICE PRESIDENT NALUMANGO FILE NOMINATIONS FOR 2026 ELECTIONS
President Hakainde Hichilema and Vice President Mutale Nalumango have officially filed their nomination papers as presidential candidates for the United Party for National Development ahead of the August 13, 2026 General Elections.
The two leaders successfully presented their nomination papers and took the oath of allegiance at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre amid overwhelming support from thousands of jubilant UPND supporters, party officials and alliance partners.
The colourful event attracted supporters from different parts of the country who gathered at the venue clad in UPND regalia, singing party songs and chanting slogans in solidarity with President Hichilema and the ruling party.
Several leaders from UPND Alliance partner political parties also attended the filing process in support of President Hichilema’s candidature. Among them were Nevers Mumba, Charles Milupi, Highvie Hamududu and Judith Kabemba, among others.
President Hichilema’s filing marks a significant milestone in the country’s electoral process as political parties intensify preparations for the August 2026 polls.
The President is seeking another mandate on a platform centered on continued economic transformation, job creation, infrastructure development and national unity.
Meanwhile, Vice President Nalumango said the successful filing of nominations reflected the leadership’s continued commitment to serving the people of Zambia with dedication, integrity and humility.
“President Hakainde Hichilema and I have officially taken the oath of allegiance and successfully presented our nomination papers at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre ahead of the August 2026 General Elections,” Vice President Nalumango said.
