Farewell to Mwine Mushi: Robam Mwape Remembered for Promoting Unity Through Art

Artist Robam Mwape, popularly known as Mwine Mushi, has been laid to rest.

Information and Media Permanent Secretary, Thabo Kawana conveyed President Hakainde Hichilema’s deep sorrow over Mwape’s passing, noting the President’s admiration for the Mwine Mushi character, which championed unity and firmly opposed tribalism.

Speaking during the church service ahead of the burial in Solwezi District, Mr. Kawana urged fellow artistes to follow Mwape’s example by creating content that fosters national unity.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Youth, Sports and Arts Permanent Secretary for Arts, Fumba Chama, praised Mwape’s lasting contributions to the growth of Zambia’s arts sector.

New Hospitals Coming to Solwezi

The government has approved the construction of mini hospitals and a district hospital in Solwezi District, located in the North Western Province.

Solwezi Central Member of Parliament, Stafford Mulusa, confirmed that land has already been secured in Kapijipanga for the two health facilities.

Speaking to ZNBC News in Solwezi, Mr. Mulusa stated that the contractor is already on site and construction works are underway.

Mr. Mulusa, who also serves as Government Chief Whip, emphasized that the health sector remains a top priority. He assured the public that the government will continue investing in infrastructure development to enhance healthcare delivery.

He further appealed to members of the public to exercise patience as the government works to deliver the new health facilities.

ZNS KICKS OFF IN-SERVICE RECRUIT TRAINING IN KABWE

The Deputy Zambia National Service (ZNS) Commander, Major General Reuben Mwewa has officially launched an In-Service Recruit Training Course for over 1,500 recruits of Intake 27/2024 at the ZNS Kabwe Training School.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, Maj Gen Mwewa, who is also Chief of ZNS Staff, indicated that the newly enlisted recruits were carefully chosen from a large pool of civilian employees within the Service.

The Deputy Commander urged the recruits not to take the privilege lightly and to commit themselves fully to the challenges of the training ahead.

Maj Gen Mwewa further encouraged the trainees to give nothing less than their absolute best, stressing that only such commitment would justify the investment made in them.

He challenged them to dedicate themselves to learning and endurance, noting that the training ahead would push them to their limits.
