PEMBA CONSTITUENCY INDEPENDENCE TOURNAMENT WINNERS TO BE CROWNED ON FREEDOM DAY.
Pemba Constituency is set to celebrate Zambia's sixty years of independence with sports activities organized by area Member of Parliament Lameck Hamwaata. The independence tournament kicked off in early October, culminating in the crowning of winners in football and netball on October 24, 2024.
In the semifinals, Hamaundu Ward triumphed over Dobo Ward with a score of three goals to nil, while Siabunkululu Ward edged out the host, Pemba Ward, in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw.
After the matches, Siabunkululu Ward Coach Honest Mwaanga expressed his satisfaction with his team's performance, stating they met his expectations and he is hopeful for a win in the finals on Thursday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Pemba Ward Coach Bernard Sianyambwe acknowledged his team’s defeat but praised their opponents for their strong play. He also commended the tournament sponsors for fostering unity among communities across the district.
And in Netball Pemba beat Siabunkululu 22-11 while Hamaundu dominated Nachibanga ward 16-15.
The finals are scheduled for October 24, 2024, at Pemba Primary Ground at 15:00.
