PRESIDENT HAKAINDE HICHILEMA LEADERSHIP TRANSFORMING ZAMBIA POSITIVELY, THE OPPOSITION HAVE NOTHING TO OPPOSE APART FROM JUST INSULTING - SUSAN TEMBO

Zambia is transforming under President Hakainde Hichilema's leadership through people-centered, long-term policies. From the start, he has encouraged young people to shift their mindset, moving away from reliance on handouts toward self-reliance, hard work and innovation. Across our towns and markets, the change is evident. The number of young people asking for coins has reduced, as many are now earning through entrepreneurship, cleaning shoes, washing cars, and helping shop owners.

The administration has made significant strides in agriculture, with a recent bumper harvest being a notable achievement. Districts like Kalomo have recorded the highest maize output nationally, demonstrating the effectiveness of agricultural reforms and input support programs. This progress is a testament to the government's commitment to improving the lives of Zambians.

In education, the introduction of free education has seen over two million children going back to school which has significantly increased enrollment rates and improved access to quality education. This initiative is equipping our youth with the knowledge, confidence and practical skills to shape their own futures. Free education and skills development programs are empowering young people to take charge of their lives.

The government has also invested in critical infrastructure development, including the construction of roads such as the Batoka-Maamba Road Chipata-Chadiza road, Lusaka-Ndola Dual Carriageway. These projects aim to improve national connectivity and facilitate economic growth. Furthermore, progress on solar energy expansion is underway, with expectations of multiple solar power stations being commissioned by December 2025, and rehabilitation of existing hydro infrastructure to strengthen energy security.

Youth empowerment is another key focus area, with the provision of grants, scholarships and skills training programs in various trades. These initiatives promote job creation and entrepreneurship, enabling young people to contribute to the economy. Additionally, ongoing construction and upgrading of health facilities, recruitment of health workers and investments in maternal and child health are improving healthcare services.

These structural reforms are designed to create lasting benefits, nurture a generation of independent, empowered, and innovative Zambians, and leave a legacy that will stand the test of time in Zambian history. President Hichilema is committed to empowering Zambians, not controlling them, his administration's focus on people-centered policies is yielding positive results.

WE BANNED CHARCOAL PRODUCTION IN MUMBWA, ITEZHI - TEZHI & SHIBUYUNJI TO PROTECT WATER RESOURCE- NZOVU

Green Economy and Environment minister Collins Nzovu, has disclosed that government has banned charcoal production in Mumbwa, Itezhi and Shibuyunji districts to ensure protection of the water resource essential for the country's power generation.

Speaking during a stakeholder awareness meeting for Members of Parliament and Chiefs from Mumbwa, Itezhi and Shibuyunji districts on the charcoal production ban in Mumbwa this morning, Eng. Nzovu explained that the protection of the environment in the three districts is critical because the water resource there accounts for fifty percent of power generation for the country.

Eng. Nzovu feared that if not protected, the country could easily lose fifty percent of power generation.

"What makes these chiefs here, Itezhi-tezhi, Shibuyunji and Mumbwa special, is that the reservoir for our biggest generation capacity is protected by them. Itezhi -tezhi reservoir accounts for generation at Itezhi-tezhi dam, number one. Number two at Kafue Gorge Upper and number three at Kafue Gorge Lower. So protection of the environment in Itezhi-tezhi, Mumbwa and Shibuyunji, is critical, I am sure you will understand one of the big reason we came to ban charcoal burning is to ensure we protect this water resource essential for power generation," the minister explained.

And Eng. Nzovu who is also Nangoma Member of Parliament added that the highest concentration of cattle in the country is in the three chiefdoms.

He indicated that if government through his ministry does not engage traditional leaders in those chiefdoms, livestock production would be adversely affected.

Meanwhile, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment, Douty Chibamba said sustainable forest management is the way to go.

In a speech read on his behalf by director of forestry, Sitwala Wamunyima, Mr. Chibamba emphasized the need to protect the remaining trees and plant new ones.

TAKE YOUR CHILDREN TO SCHOOL OR FACE THE LAW - NZOVU WARNS NANGOMA PARENTS

November 21st, 2023

NANGOMA - Member of Parliament Collins Nzovu has vowed to keenly monitor the attendance of School going Children, especially a girl child in his constituency in view of the introduction of free education by government.

Mr Nzovu has since called on parents in Nangoma to take advantage of free education by taking Children to school and not force them into early marriages as that is against the Zambian law.

The lawmaker was speaking when he was handing over more than 3,000 school desks to Mumbwa District Education authorities at kasalu Secondary school in Nangoma.

He further described education as the most important investment in children which will not only advantage the learners but their immediate society in particular and the country in general.

Nzovu emphasized that even his being where he is, it’s because he treasured school from the beginning and that opportunities do not look at where one comes from.

“ I used to walk long distances and sit on stones for me to have access to school, but here I am. Fortunately for you, desks have been provided and all you have to do is pass and move to the next stage“ he encouraged children at Kasalu primary school.

He said the law will not tolerate any parent that will force their children into early marriages and will therefore keenly monitor parents who refuse children to attend school.

NANGOMA COMMUNITY AND BUSINESS GROUPS RECEIVE MORE THAN K5 MILLION UNDER CDF

November 16th, 2023

NANGOMA - Nangoma Member of Parliament Collins Nzovu on Wednesday disbursed more than five million kwacha in loans and grants to various business and community groups respectively in his constituency under the 2023 Constituency Development Fund( CDF) allocation.

The disbursement of the funds was made with a call on beneficiaries to invest the funds into tangible profit making ventures and not for personal use as this remains one of the key campaign promises made by the UPND as a way of fostering community and individual socio-economic development.

Mr. Nzovu during the funds presentation a ceremony attended by several Nangoma residents, traditional leaders and Heads of Government Departments said the UPND's campaign message was premised on prudent use of public funds through decentralisation and devolution to especially rural communities to allow them determine their own development agenda.

“Mali akasika ku Nangoma nobamuka mwini mwakamba kuti ku malende Kunyina Clinic, ku Kezwa kwina Chikolo, masena masena amwi kwina meshi, CDF Hakainde Hichilema watupa mali akwene, mali nkwali ali ku Mumbwa” ( You the people said Malende has no clinic while Kezwa doesn't have a good school. President Hakainde Hichilema has given the money through CDF which is already in the district. Use it) he said.

Mr Nzovu revealed that Kasalu Primary school which stands as one of the biggest public schools in the constituency had before the introduction of free Education by the UPND Government less than 2,000 pupils but now the number has escalated to more than 2,000, a sign that a number of pupils had given up on school due to associated costs.

The area lawmaker further revealed that the school has further been boosted by an additional 16 trained teachers bringing the number to 42 while 3,000 school desks have been made and ready for distribution throughout the constituency with 100 water boreholes earmarked for drilling under the 2023 CDF allocation.

And a representative from Masumo club gave a vote of thanks and commended Government efforts for the funds which she said were in the past a preserve of ruling party cadres with ordinary community members having had no access to empowerment funds.

“ Meebo balumi bangu bakafwa mu 2003. Ndalikuba apenzi maningi kwaakujana maali. Mbutwakapanga club (masumo club) yama mama.Twakalembela kuu CDF babola batu tambula” ( My husband died in 2003 and it has been very difficult for me economically as money was not easy to come by. This prompted us with my fellow women to form this club. We applied for funds and here we are being part of the recipients) Miss Mapepe revealed.

Miss Mapepe further said free education is a sign that government is interested in seeing women and young people benefit from the new development agenda.

At the same event, Mr Nzovu also revealed that the contract to work on the new Kenzwa road connecting Senzo to the rest of the Constituency has been awarded to the Zambia National Service.
