Cheers and excitement filled Aweil Airstrip on Saturday morning as Governor Charles Madut Akol returned to Northern Bahr el Ghazal State after an official visit to Juba.

Vehicle Overturns on Road Between Akuem-Kou and Aweil Town

A vehicle overturned this evening on the road between Akuem-Kou and Aweil Town due to high speed. The accident occurred at around 4:35 PM.

According to information shared with the Aweil News Agency by eyewitnesses, the vehicle lost control along the Akuem road because of overspeeding.

Those sworn in were Kuol Daniel Ayuol as Minister of Finance and Planning, Clement Juma as Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Mahjoub Biel Turuk as Deputy Minister of Public Service and Human Resources, and General Santino Deng Wol as Chief of Defence Forces of the SSPDF. The oath was administered by Chief Justice Benjamin Bak Deng.

President Kiir said he is looking for honest, hardworking leaders committed to serving the people of South Sudan, stressing that β€œwith hard work, you can reform yourselves.” He directed the Finance Minister to improve banking and payment systems to ensure timely disbursement of public funds, and tasked the new Chief of Defence Forces to strengthen discipline, professionalism, and operational readiness within the army.

Minister of Defence, General Chol Thon Balok, welcomed the appointment and called for faster military reforms. The new ministers pledged to deliver on economic reform, service delivery, and food security.

Popular Aweil Artist Deng Ras Detained in Mayom Adhal After Domestic Dispute With Wife

Well-known Aweil musician Deng Ras was arrested Tuesday at the Mayom Adhal police sector following an alleged altercation with his wife, Amou Arich, authorities confirmed.

Police sources say the arrest came after a domestic dispute between the artist and his spouse escalated yesterday. Officers intervened and took Deng Ras into custody as part of standard procedure for domestic-related incidents.

β€œThe police are handling the matter according to the law,” a local officer at Mayom Adhal told reporters on condition of anonymity. β€œWe are working closely with both families to ensure the case is resolved peacefully and fairly.”
