Happy Birthday, Matesu Dube.

A true fountain of dance and storytelling, Matesu Dube has spent nearly three decades shaping Zimbabweโ€™s cultural landscape as the founding director of Umkhathi Theatre Works. From local stages to international tours, his artistry has inspired generations.

Last year , he added another feather to his cap graduating with a BA Honours in Film, Television & Media Studies from Lupane State University and receiving the prestigious Chancellorโ€™s Award for his documentary on Umkhathi.

Today we celebrate not just your birthday, but a lifetime of excellence. Hereโ€™s to more stages, more stories, and more success.

From Bulawayo to Botswana, Zimbabweโ€™s adventurous couple Thando Tshuma Vlogs and Vusumuzi MC Official are back on the road and this time, theyโ€™ve cycled into Francistown as part of their Zimbabwe to Nigeria journey themed โ€œCycling for Sustainable Ecosystems and the Beauty of Africa.โ€

On Wednesday, they were warmly welcomed by the Botswana Tourism Organisation, local leaders, and tourism officials, who treated them to a tour of the Supa-Ngwao Museum, a delicious luncheon, and complimentary accommodation at Diggers Inn.

This marks Season Two of their incredible journey. Just months ago, they completed a 13,300km cycling expedition across 11 African countries making Thando the first black female cycling traveller from Zimbabwe to conquer such a feat.

General Lesleyโ€™s Hall of Shame comedy show had the Bulawayo Theatre in stitches on July 19.

Many said it was โ€œtoo good,โ€ with others praising the young comic as someone โ€œbuilding the future of comedy.โ€

The show received glowing reviews โ€” and heโ€™s already back with another one.

Tragedy Strikes Sekusile Sitshikitsha Dance Group After Chibuku Neshamwari Festival

A devastating road accident has claimed the lives of three members of the Sekusile Sitshikitsha Dance Group, who were returning home from the Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival in Mutare on Saturday, July 20.

The fatal accident occurred along the Gweruโ€“Bulawayo highway as the group was traveling back to Matabeleland South Province after representing the region at the national finals held at the Mutare Agricultural Showgrounds.

The late dancers have been identified as Ms. S. Mpofu, Ms. I.T. Mike, and Mr. L. Mazara โ€” all of whom were employed by How Mine in Mzingwane District. Several other members of the group sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical attention.

In a joint statement released on Sunday, July 21, the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ), the Zimbabwe National Traditional Dancers Association (ZNTDA), and Delta Beverages conveyed their condolences to the affected families and pledged continued support.

โ€œThe NACZ, ZNTDA and Delta Beverages, would like to extend our deepest condolences to the Mpofu, Mike, and Mazara families,โ€ the statement read.

The Chibuku Neshamwari Festival is one of Zimbabweโ€™s most celebrated traditional dance platforms, offering communities an opportunity to showcase their cultural heritage. The Sekusile groupโ€™s participation in the festival was a proud moment for the province now marked by deep sorrow.
