Women involved in artisanal and small-scale gold mining in Insiza South are poised to benefit from safer working conditions and expanded economic opportunities under the planetGOLD Zimbabwe project, which is promoting mercury-free gold recovery technologies to reduce health and environmental risks associated with gold extraction.
The initiative, which aims to reach 7,500 miners across 11 districts, is being hailed by the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development as a significant step towards advancing women’s economic empowerment while improving occupational safety in the mining sector... https://www.mykasimagazine.com/mercury-free-gold-recovery-technologies-drive-safer-mining-future-for-women-in-insiza/

There is a point in every true artist’s journey where the need for approval simply evaporates. No more chasing trends. No more twisting into pretzels to please the critics or the algorithms. For Bulawayo’s own multi-talented creator Muse, that moment is right now and it has been beautifully captured in his latest track, "Xola," featuring the exquisite vocals of Luchi Shiki.
We sat down with Muse to break down the inspiration, the organic studio chemistry, and the local visual flavor behind what is setting up to be the winter’s ultimate feel-good anthem... https://www.mykasimagazine.com/unapologetically-muse-finding-peace-passion-and-premium-grooves-in-xola/

The lights have dimmed, the final notes have faded, and the Bulawayo Arts Festival has officially come to a close.
However what a ride it’s been. For seven days Bulawayo didn’t just host a festival it became the festival.

From last Sunday when a soul-stirring gospel concert kicked off with power and spirit, right through to the past Saturday, when the same vibe of people together celebrating creativity closed the week, Bulawayo Arts Festival 2026 reminded the City of Kings and Queens why art matters... https://www.mykasimagazine.com/how-baf-2026-turned-the-city-into-one-stage-one-heartbeat/

The gates of Gwanda High School opened to something rare last week when former IBF International Welterweight Boxing Champion Kell Brook walked in. He didn’t come alone.
The stop at Coach Clinton’s home made it even more personal.

For the young fighters in Matabeleland South, meeting a man who once held a world title wasn’t just a photo moment. It was proof that the dream is possible, even from a dusty gym in Gwanda... https://www.mykasimagazine.com/former-ibf-champion-kell-brook-brings-hope-to-gwandas-young-boxers/

This morning, the energy in the room was palpable. I attended the “Love Your City Bulawayo” creative conversation, hosted by the Bulawayo Arts Festival. To say it was inspiring and enlightening would be an understatement, it was a definitive eye-opener. The gathering brought together artists, storytellers, cultural leaders, and city-builders to tackle a massive question: What is the true role of a creative in shaping a flourishing city?
The overwhelming takeaway? We are not just entertainers. We are the essential architects of Bulawayo’s future... https://www.mykasimagazine.com/reimagining-kings-queens-how-creatives-are-redefining-the-soul-of-bulawayo/

Bulawayo came alive yesterday as residents filled the city centre for the Bulawayo Day Carnival Parade.
Drummers, majorettes, poets, musicians, dancers and cultural groups turned the streets into a stage.
The energy was loud, proud and unmistakably Bulawayo as people paused daily life to celebrate heritage, diversity and creative spirit together.
The timing matters. This year marks 132 years since Bulawayo was declared a town on 1 June 1894 by Dr Leander Starr Jameson outside the Maxim Hotel on Fife Street. However the city stretched the celebrations further... https://www.mykasimagazine.com/bulawayo-day-carnival-fills-streets-with-colour-and-purpose/
