The suspect has been identified as one of the buyers of stolen items linked to the Chirundu incident. His apprehension follows multiple attempts to evade law enforcement, including in Simwambwa Hills, off Malengo area in Chirundu, and later at Turn Pike in Kafue District. Officers had to walk 30 kilometers in difficult terrain to reach the suspect, given the lack of an access road in the area. This arrest is linked to a case reported by John K. Samakayi, aged 55, of Riverside, Chingola. Mr. Samakayi was driving a Shacman tanker truck along the Chirundu-Kafue Road on March 2, 2025 at around 15:30 hours when he was attacked by criminals who stole property valued at K6, 850.00.Furthermore, on March 9, 2025 at around 11:00 hours, police successfully apprehended one of the three key suspects involved in the attack. Justin Muchala, a male suspect, was found hiding in the hills of Kafue Gorge, where he was constructing a makeshift shelter. Acting on intelligence, police rushed to the location and arrested the suspect, who is now detained in police custody for further investigations. We wish to sternly warn criminals targeting truckers along the Kafue-Chirundu Road and other highways that the Zambia Police Service will not relent until all perpetrators are arrested and brought to justice. Law enforcement officers remain committed to ensuring the safety of all road users and will continue to pursue all those involved in such criminal activities. We urge members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
