Chirundu Builds Three Schools with World Bank Support
Three new schools valued at more than 70 million Kwacha have been constructed in Chirundu District, Southern Province, with support from the World Bank.
The Chirundu Town Council says the facilities are expected to ease pressure on existing schools and provide a conducive learning environment for more than 1,000 pupils.
Council Public Relations Officer, Nakubiana Shabongo says the investment is helping to close the gap in education infrastructure between rural and urban communities.
Ms. Shabongo says this aligns with government's free education policy that has seen enrollment numbers rise sharply.
She says the schools will improve access to education, enhance performance, increase attendance, and contribute to community development and economic growth.
