Intercity Xpress & EagleLiner Expands Fleet with Delivery of New Irizar Coaches 🇿🇦🇿🇦🥳🥳

We extend our congratulations to Intercity Xpress on the successful delivery of five brand-new Irizar i6s Efficient coaches, built on trusted Mercedes-Benz chassis. This marks a significant step forward in the company’s continued commitment to providing safe, efficient, and comfortable long-distance travel across Southern Africa.

In addition to the new i6s Efficient units, Intercity Xpress has also added a sixth Irizar i6s VIP coach, powered by the premium Scania Group’s K410 platform. Lets get to know abit of one of SADC’s oldest Trucking Company, ZALAWI HAULAGE🥰🇿🇲

🚚 Overview & Ownership

Founded in 1974, Zalawi Haulage is based in the Copperbelt province, specifically Chingola, Zambia🇿🇲, and operates under the umbrella of Africa Global Logistics (AGL), part of the MSC Group.


The group includes Zalawi Haulage and White Horse Carriers, working across Zambia, DRC, Namibia, South Africa, and Botswana.

Fleet & Scale

The company boasts a fleet of around 500–520 trucks running major corridors like Durban–Walvis Bay to Zambia/DRC, managed by a workforce of about **600 employees.

Services & Tracking

They transport a wide range of commodities including copper cathode, cobalt, mining supplies, steel, palm oil, cement, containers, and dangerous goods like explosives and uranium oxide concentrate

Zalawi employs an in‑house satellite tracking system (reporting every 10 minutes), with real‑time monitoring from their HQ in Johannesburg

Facilities & Training

Chingola 🇿🇲facility (\~60 000 m²) handles local and southbound transport, workshops, fueling, and inventory storage

Lusaka facility🇿🇲 (\~13 000 m²) supports local and southern routes with similar infrastructure

Johannesburg 🇿🇦operations include strategic support, training, fleet maintenance, fueling, procurement, and corporate functions

Ongoing driver training programs are provided at their in-house training centre in Johannesburg.

Recent Expansion

In June 2025, Zalawi introduced a brand-new fleet based out of Walvis Bay, Namibia, as part of AGL’s strategy to strengthen the Walvis Bay Corridor, improving transit to Zambia and Botswana and aligning with its sustainability goals
