Ministry of Environment, CARE International Zimbabwe Explore Collaboration on Climate Action and Community Resilience
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife, Mr Simon Masanga, has met with the newly appointed CARE International Zimbabwe Country Director, Ms Delilah Takawira, to explore opportunities for strengthened collaboration in addressing climate change and promoting environmental sustainability.
Discussions centred on areas of shared interest, including climate change adaptation and mitigation, climate-smart agriculture, ecosystem restoration, biodiversity and wildlife conservation, disaster risk reduction, sustainable natural resource management, renewable energy, and supporting women, youth, and local communities to play a greater role in environmental stewardship.
The Ministry outlined key national initiatives aimed at advancing environmental protection and climate resilience, including the National Clean-Up Programme, National Tree Planting Programme, Wetlands Restoration Programme, National Adaptation Plan, biodiversity conservation efforts, human-wildlife coexistence initiatives, sustainable forest management, and environmental awareness campaigns.
Both institutions expressed commitment to developing strategic partnerships that enhance climate resilience, safeguard Zimbabwe’s natural heritage, and contribute to sustainable development for current and future generations.
