I used to walk into networking events and immediately look for the drinks table.

Not because I wanted a drink. Because I needed somewhere to stand that didn’t make me look lost.

Nobody teaches you how to do this. How to approach a stranger with confidence. What to say beyond “so what do you do.” How to follow up in a way that actually goes somewhere.

Grateful for April.

I gave a 21 year old my vision. She gave me an anthem

I had an idea. What if The Influential Woman had a song?

Not for the event. Not for the stage. For the drive. For the quiet. For the days you're still figuring it out.

So I got in the room with the incredibly gifted Elyon Gumbe. I shared the vision. She went away and created from her own gift. What came back was something I couldn't have written myself.

She's 21. And she wrote every word.

We sat down. We talked about the process, the purpose, and what it means to stay in your lane as a creative woman.

Okay, I need to say something and I'm saying it with love.

Your plan is perfect. You've ChatGPT'd it, you've Claude'd it, you've colour coded it. On paper you know exactly what you need to do.

And yet you keep going back to it. Tweaking it. Adding to it. Reworking the thing you've already worked.

That's not preparation. That's fear.

And I'm not saying that to shame you, I'm saying it because I see you. I've been in that room with women who are brilliant, capable, and ready. Who have everything they need. And who are still somehow finding one more thing to fix before they start.

Fear is clever. It doesn't show up saying "I'm scared." It shows up colour coded with tabs.
But here's what I know. The plan was never the problem. The plan is done. It's been done.
What's on the other side of the plan is the part that actually changes things. And that part requires you to put the plan down and move.

You don't need to feel ready. You just need to start.
I'm rooting for you. But I need you to go.

Since we got married over 8 years ago, my husband had been telling me to post and speak more.

I HATED the idea.

I remember thinking… what would I even say?
I don’t know how to post.
I’m not a content creator.
Who’s actually going to listen to me?

So I just didn’t.

I sat on my voice for YEARS.

He could see something in me that I just couldn’t see in myself yet.

And it’s mad because nothing really changed…
I just stopped hiding.

I started showing up.
I started using what God gave me.
And that’s when doors started opening.

Because the truth is…
you can’t be seen or paid for something no one knows you do.

I wasn’t lacking ability.
I was hiding it.

And a lot of you are doing the same 👀👀👀

I spent hours today helping someone repackage their offering, and the truth is they already had everything. Nothing was missing, it just wasn’t clear.

It reminded me of a season I know too well - doing the work, showing up, but not being seen for the level I was actually at, because it wasn’t being presented in a way people understood. It’s like putting something valuable in the wrong box…

people don’t always see what’s there, they see what’s in front of them. Made me think how many of us are sitting on something VALUABLE, but it’s just not landing. If this resonates, you might not need more - you might just need to reposition what you already have.
