George Silundika: The Voice

If a revolution needs a voice, George Silundika was its powerful speaker. A charismatic ZAPU national chairman and a key founder of the liberation movement, his oratory skills could mobilize masses and articulate the pain and hope of a people. He was the public face of the struggle, a diplomat and mobilizer who worked tirelessly to unite Zimbabweans under the banner of freedom. The 2026 National Budget is officially in motion!

At Drive Zimbabwe Forward (DZF), we are looking at these allocations through the lens of our mission to be "storytellers with solutions." This budget isn’t just a policy; it’s the backbone for our 5 Core Pillars this year:
* Sustainable Agriculture (ZiG 26.8bn allocation): Supporting our goal to train farmers in climate-smart techniques to ensure no one goes hungry. 🌽
* AI & Digital Innovation (ZiG 10.3bn for Science & Tech): Providing the resources we need to bring digital literacy and AI tools to the grassroots. 💻
* Health & Well-being (ZiG 30.4bn allocation): Fueling our mission for Rural Eye Care and support for People Living with Albinism. 👓
* STEM, Sports & Arts (ZiG 1.7bn for Youth & ZiG 841m for Arts): Nurturing the next generation of Zimbabwean talent and thinkers.

To literally keep us moving, the government has also updated the Vehicle Registration and Licensing fees (SI 10 of 2026). From a $50 first-time motor vehicle registration to streamlined change-of-ownership fees, these updates are part of the framework that keeps our roads and our records organized as we drive the nation forward.

We believe that when national policy meets community action, real change happens. We are ready to take this momentum into our planned community workshops this year.

How We Measure Progress:

Workshop Targets: Our goal for 2026 is to execute 15 community workshops/events. This tracks our programmatic reach and physical presence.

Direct Intervention: We track specific metrics for our pillars, like the number of farmers trained, or the eye screenings conducted.

Financial Transparency: We commit to transparency in our community work, ensuring funds go directly where they are needed.

Behind the towering figure of Father Zimbabwe, Joshua Nkomo, stood a pillar of strength: his wife, Johanna "Mama" MaFuyana Nkomo. But to define her only by her marriage is to miss her own story. She was a community mother, a confidante, and a symbol of resilience in her own right. While her husband was in detention or exile, she held the fort, offering solace and support to countless others. Her burial at Heroes Acre was a recognition that the struggle was fought not just by men on the front lines, but by the women who kept the hope alive at home. Celebrating the often-unsung strength of the women in our history.
