Ordinary Zimbabweans are calling on MPs to push for laws banning pitbull ownership in the country following a recent incident where a Harare man was mauled to death by a pitbull.
This isn't an isolated incident, as there have been several reported cases of pitbull attacks in Zimbabwe, resulting in fatalities and injuries.
Countries like the UK, Canada, Denmark, Ecuador, Venezuela, Israel, and Norway have either banned or imposed strict restrictions on pitbull ownership.
Some of the concerns driving the call for a ban include:
Public Safety - Pitbull attacks have resulted in serious injuries and fatalities, emphasizing the need for action to protect citizens.
Irresponsible Ownership - Cases like Mike Mupinga's, where neighbors complained about his pitbulls being a menace, demonstrate the importance of regulating ownership.
Alternative Breeds - Pet owners can opt for breeds known for their kindness and loyalty, providing a safer environment.
