Miriam was not a quiet background figure…
She was a leader.
A prophetess.
A woman who helped shape Israel’s early journey out of Egypt.
She stood at the Red Sea, leading worship after God’s deliverance.
“Miriam the prophet, Aaron’s sister, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women followed her.”
Exodus 15:20
She had influence.
She had recognition.
She had a voice that people followed.
But later in her story, something shifted.
She spoke against Moses.
Questioning his authority, elevating her own perspective.
And God responded.
“Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?”
Numbers 12:8
Miriam was struck with leprosy.
A visible consequence of an invisible heart issue.
Pride had entered quietly.
Influence had turned into comparison.
And position became a place of struggle instead of surrender.
But the story does not end in rejection.
Moses cried out for her healing, and God restored her after seven days. 🥹
Miriam’s life is both powerful and sobering.
It shows that you can be used by God and still need alignment with God. You can lead others and still need humility yourself…
Influence is a gift, but humility is protection.
Because the same voice that leads worship
must also remain submitted to God.
Miriam reminds us that closeness to God is not just about moments of power, but about maintaining a heart that stays humble in every season. ❤️🔥
