Progress Worth Noting, But Delivery Will Be the True Test

The City of Kadoma's latest council highlights paint a picture of a local authority that is making deliberate efforts to improve service delivery. From acquiring new vehicles and equipment, rehabilitating key infrastructure, upgrading Rimuka Maternity, expanding market space for vendors, and tackling illegal dumping, these are initiatives many residents have been waiting to see.

On paper, these developments represent positive steps toward a cleaner, safer, and more functional city. If implemented efficiently, they have the potential to improve healthcare, road infrastructure, waste management, and economic opportunities for informal traders.

However, Kadoma residents have learned over the years that announcements alone are not enough. What matters most is ex*****on. Citizens will be watching closely to see whether these projects are completed on time, whether public funds are used transparently, and whether the promised benefits reach every communityβ€”not just a select few.

The signing of integrity pledges is a welcome gesture, but integrity is ultimately demonstrated through accountability, transparency, and measurable results. Likewise, new vehicles and partnerships should translate into visible improvements in refuse collection, road maintenance, and public service delivery.

As journalists, our role is neither to praise nor to condemn blindly. It is to acknowledge progress where it exists while continuing to ask the necessary questions that ensure those in public office remain accountable.

FREE TB SCREENING TO BE HELD AT RIMUKA MUNICIPAL CLINIC

Residents of Rimuka and surrounding areas are encouraged to take advantage of a free Tuberculosis (TB) screening outreach taking place on 13–14 July 2026 at Rimuka Municipal Clinic from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

The screening will use a mobile digital X-ray unit with AI-assisted technology to help detect TB early. The programme is particularly encouraging attendance from miners and former miners, healthcare workers, older adults, people living with HIV or diabetes, TB contacts, and anyone experiencing a persistent cough or other TB symptoms.

Health experts say early detection saves lives, and TB is curable when diagnosed and treated early.

If you or someone you know may be at risk, this is an opportunity to get screened free of charge.
