Marondera Man (25) Arrested for Ra**ng His Mother (58) After Drinking Binge

Police in Marondera have arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly ra**ng his 58-year-old mother following a beer-drinking binge. The incident occurred on November 2, 2025, at March Farm.

According to Assistant Inspector Naume Gondo, Mashonaland East acting police spokesperson, the mother and son had gone to a nearby shebeen together and had drunk until 11 p.m. The mother, who was intoxicated, returned home and went to bed, leaving the main door unlocked. In the early hours of November 3, around 2 a.m., she woke up to find her son ra**ng her. She alerted neighbors, who apprehended him, and the police were notified.

Investigations are ongoing. The arrest has sparked outrage in the community, with locals uniting to condemn the horrific act and advocate for a culture of respect and safety.

Assemblies of God-Spiritual Movement Wins Church Property Wrangle

Story by Rutendo Chigiya

Marondera - The Assemblies of God-Spiritual Movement (AoG-SM) has emerged victorious in a long-standing property ownership dispute with the Assemblies of God Back to God (AOG-BTG).

The High Court ruled in favor of AoG-SM, awarding them ownership of three properties, including their church headquarters in Rujeko suburb. The dispute stems from a split within the Assemblies of God church, which had divided into different groups, Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa (ZAOGA), Assemblies of God Back to God, and Assemblies of God-Spiritual Movement.

The church's Secretary General Luckmore Zinyama says the court victory has brought relief to the congregants, allowing the church to shift focus towards implementing projects that were put on hold due to the lengthy court battle.

THE Marondera community is mourning the death of eight-year-old Tawananyasha Fusire, a Grade One pupil who was fatally struck by a speeding pirate taxi, commonly known as a mushikashika, on her way to school on Friday morning.

What began as an ordinary walk to school turned tragic when the vehicle hit and dragged the young girl for nearly ten metres. Tawananyasha died on the spot, while her two friends sustained injuries and were rushed for medical attention.

Her father, Mr Edmore Fusire, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of his daughter.

“This is so sad to lose such a promising child. I had enrolled her at this school because I wanted a better future for her, but this is how it has ended,” he said.

Local church leader, Bishop Liberty Munhenzva, condemned reckless driving by unlicensed operators.

“These drivers need to be examined to see if their licences are genuine because the way they drive makes you wonder if they are really trained drivers,” he said.

Tawananyasha’s teacher, Mrs Shupikai Shamu, described her as a quiet and obedient learner.

“This child was very quiet and obedient in school, and we are all saddened as a school to lose such a promising star. May her soul rest in peace,” Mrs Shamu said.

Confirming the incident, Mashonaland East ZRP Spokesperson, Inspector Simon Chazovachi, urged motorists to exercise caution.

“We urge our drivers to be cautious on the roads so that we avoid loss of life, especially that of young children like this one.”

While the pirate taxi driver is likely to face legal consequences, no punishment could bring Tawananyasha’s life back.
