Truck driver arrested for smuggling pharmaceutical products

On 20/08/25, Police in Chirundu intercepted a truck at the 348 kilometre peg along Harare-Chirundu Road and arrested the driver, Solo Chikuvanyanga (52), for smuggling pharmaceutical products comprising paracetamol, phonoxy, mistrovix,promothozine, cotrimoxole, amoxicillin, chlorphenamile and mistrovix tablets, among others.

The victims’ mother had gone to a nearby shop, leaving a pot with sweet potatoes on the fireplace.
“The ZRP confirms a fire incident in which two twin brothers aged two, Jacob and Lincoln Gono, were burnt to death.
“The kitchen hut was burnt while they were playing on August 21 at Gwasha Village, Chimanimani.”

“He died after being attacked by his brothers, Alfred Kadziyanike (22) and Gilbert Kadziyanike (25) at Kapori Village the previous day.
“The victim had accused the suspects of stealing green maize cobs from his field.

Two men are wanted after they reportedly killed their brother after an altercation over green maize cobs. He died.

In his letter to Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA), President Ngobile Magwizi said:
“I would like to express my sincerest and heartfelt condolences on the passing of former international player, Tendai Ndoro.
“Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel for this loss.
During his international career, Tendai Ndoro was regularly capped by Zimbabwe and notably participated in the 2017 CAF African Cup of Nations.
“At club level, he defended the colours of Chicken Inn FC in his home country, as well as several South African clubs, including Orlando Pirates FC.
“He also played in Saudi Arabia and Oman.
“Legend of Zimbabwe football, known for his talent and resilience, inspiration for many young footballers, his legacy and achievements, and in particular his personality, his leadership, his popularity, and his human qualities will not be forgotten, and he will be truly missed.

Mentally unstable man kills five
A mentally unstable man from Matabeleland Province has been arrested after he ran amok and killed five people.
The 43-year-old Phamani Sibanda, 43 went on a killing spree in Madlambuzi.
National Police Spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the incident.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of a suspected mental patient, Phamani Sibanda (43), in connection with murder of five people and attempted murder on two complainants, which occurred on 20th August 2025 in Madlambuzi, Matabeleland South Province.
“The suspect ran amok, became violent, and attacked seven people with a Mopani log, a blunt object, and an unknown sharp object while moving aggressively around the village.
“He was targeting anyone whom he was coming across with.
Subsequently, five people died on the spot while two others were injured.
