*Bishop Collin Munemo ordained Fig’s 7th Bishop*

By: DP Patricia Edwin

BULAWAYO — Faith In God Ministries International (Fig) has expanded its senior leadership following the ordination of Apostle Collin Munemo into the Bishopric at the just-ended Equipping the Saints Conference in Bulawayo.
Apostle Munemo becomes the seventh Bishop in the ministry, after being consecrated by Archbishop Dr. Asa Gurupira, Founder and Visionary of FIG. The appointment marks a significant milestone in both the life of the new Bishop and the global outlook of the ministry.

Bishop Munemo said he felt deeply honoured by the elevation, describing it as a humbling recognition of long-standing service. “I feel honoured and humbled to be trusted with such a higher office, as you know I have done nothing to deserve this,” he said.

A local Pastor at House of Bread FIG Mabvuku Assembly, Bishop Collin is expected to vacate the role of overseeing Tabernacle of Grace Province (Harare East) as he takes charge of Region 7 as its Bishop.

Tracing his footprint in ministry which spans 22 years, it all was marked by sacrifice, service and steadfast commitment. He recalled the challenges of his first deployment. “I remember my first deployment in Mhondoro in the rural area. Imagine from a town life adjusting to a rural life. It wasn’t easy, but by God’s grace we managed,” he confided. In 2006 he was appointed Overseer of Mashonaland West Province, overseeing urban assemblies while based in a rural setting, an experience he described as stretching yet formative.

Munemo was later transferred to Chinhoyi to pioneer an assembly from scratch. “By God’s grace we forged ahead and established the work,” he remembered. In 2015, he was deployed to Harare East Province, taking over Mabvuku assembly and provincial leadership responsibilities. He said the journey shaped his leadership character. “Loyalty, obedience, perseverance and maturity are the key things that have helped us to be where we are. In all this journey we never complained. We kept focused on our assignment.”

Stepping into the Bishopric, Munemo said he is committed to expanding the work of the ministry through church planting, establishing districts, and ensuring effective ex*****on of the FIG vision. “My greatest assignment is to work beyond duty, giving it all to kingdom business. Nothing else but kingdom business,” he said. To upcoming ministers, he urged diligence and focus. “Be vigilant, stay on your line, don’t drag your feet. Move away from expecting to be paid but focus on your assignment and do it to the dot, for your reward is from heaven.”

The Archbishop described the ordination of bishops as essential for strengthening FIG’s leadership base and ensuring that ministry expansion is effectively supported. He said ordination affirms a leader’s capacity to refine, develop and advance the work of God. “Ordination into the bishopric is very, very important because it brings an awareness to the individual that he is material to the work of God at that level and so should expand the work. He is given a cradle, but he has to develop it,” he said.

He added that expanding leadership roles ensures that the growing church remains structurally sound. “When you are doing God’s work, if you don’t refine the net, you will lose the sheep. If we do not refine and increase leadership platforms, the fish comes and slips off,” he said.

The Archbishop said Bishop Munemo was chosen based on longstanding qualities demonstrated consistently over decades. “The first one is the issue of persistence and consistency in the work of God — remaining standing for a long time. He has been with us almost from the beginning,” he said. He highlighted Munemo’s pioneering work in Mhondoro and Chinhoyi as examples of apostolic strength. “He did break fallow ground in a number of areas. That is apostleship.”

He also emphasized the importance of a stable marriage. “You can’t lead people at that level with your marriage in tatters,” he noted. Munemo’s ability to manage leaders without creating division was another factor. “We have noticed that he is able to handle leaders under him without making them fight or getting into unnecessary contentions,” he said. His consistency in character, preaching and conduct further solidified his suitability.

The Archbishop said the ordination aligns with FIG’s global vision. “Our eyes are now on the globe, and we are spreading leadership at the highest level so that we can manage the continents well,” he said. Bishop Munemo will also assume international responsibilities. “He is adding hands at the international platform, and FIG grows that way.”

The Archbishop encouraged pastors and leaders to adopt a global mindset. “We have just passed the transition. We are turning the corner, going into nations of the world,” he said. He reminded the ministry of its core mission: “We are a go-ye church, and our fundamental principle is souls, souls, souls.”

Stronger for Longer (10/11/25)

More hands on the plough

The recently concluded Equipping the Saints Conference in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe's second city, witnessed the ordination of 48 individuals to various offices and functions last week.

Archbishop Dr. Gurupira presided over the ceremony, ordaining individuals as Strategic Ministers, Pastors, District Pastors, Apostles, Evangelists, Teachers, a Lay Leader, and a Bishop.

The office of Teachers experienced a notable growth spurt, with 5 additional Teachers joining the existing 9 on Fig. Archbishop Gurupira underscored the significance of the teaching ministry as Fig progresses, anticipating the ordination of more Teachers in the future.

“I thank God, we have praying for the strengthening of Teachers Ministry under Apostle Mukungwa, as we plant Church Assemblies outside even right now in Zambia, there was need for teaching and Overseer Mukungwa himself had to go there. There he was teaching the basics of our Church; I met those from Zambia and they were very happy. This is how important the Teaching Ministry is”, intimated Archbishop Dr. Gurupira.

At the ordination of a single lay leader, The General Overseer Dr. Asa Gurupira pointed out that there is still much to be accomplished, as he looks forward to more lay leaders spearheading churches before they are ordained as full Pastors.

“There was ordination of one Lay Leader, that part I am not happy because I am expecting a lot of Lay Leaders to lead Assemblies before they are ordained as Pastors. So, we will have to push with our Bishops on this”, revealed Dr. Gurupira.

Interestingly, Fig has achieved a significant milestone by ordaining individuals into all five-fold ministry and administrative roles at a single event, having surpassed its silver jubilee mark last year.

Meanwhile, the Fig Region 6 Kingdom Woman officially launched on Saturday, 13th September 2025 under the theme ‘enlarge the place of your tent - Isaiah 54:2’ , in Harare, Zimbabwe, setting the pace for what promises to be a rewarding and exciting journey within their region.

The colourful event, attended and presided over by Bishop Mavis Gurupira, the Region's Bishop and Fig Kingdom Woman Leader, featured delegates from 6 Provinces and 2 Special districts converging at Mabvuku House of Bread Assembly.

Speaking to this Publication, Bishop Mavis Gurupira commended all initiatives that contribute significantly to the global vision of Faith in God Ministries International, as exemplified by this launch by Region 6 Kingdom Woman.

“When the Archbishop Dr. Asa Gurupira divided Faith In God Ministries International into regions, for us it’s like rebranding, a way of bringing in momentum into the church at large and that includes Kingdom Woman Ministry”, said Bishop Mavis adding that the purpose for the launch was to accelerate faster and achieve more speed as a region.

“The momentum must be faster than when we were without regions, so we are saying enlarge the place where people and blessings are going to come, we need to stretch our capacity to be consistent with the momentum that is coming”, confined Bishop Mavis.

Kingdom Woman Ministry is a thriving strategic ministry within Faith In God Ministries International, operating alongside Real Men, Youth Fire, Royal Family, Arrow Kids Ministries, and other ministries. Notably, Kingdom Woman Ministry distinguishes itself through its swift establishment in new church assemblies and rapid growth patterns, a phenomenon historically observed to outpace that of other ministries. Bishop Mavis provided this publication with insights on Kingdom Woman Ministry.

“It’s common knowledge that women are the first to come whenever there is a calling even in politics, they are more than men and they respond faster and so, having vibrant women at Assembly level assures a strong District, Province, Region and the entire Faith In God Ministries International”, she added.

*Fig in Communities*

Young Ndabezihle Petros Phiri from Fig Purpose Driven Church, Gauteng South Africa continues to shine bright in what has clear become his age long purpose, Boxing. Well done Apostle Newman Zharare for recognition of this talent and nurturing.

Ndabezihle a Fly Weight division Boxer began his journey years ago representing Zimbabwe in numerous occasions including Senegal in 2020 where he boxed his was to the quarter finals stage. Currently, he is ranked 2nd in Africa in his division and has lots of fights in him to take any challenge thrown at him.

From our chats with him, Ndabezihle views sport as a form of worship in which he glorified The Lord. He takes Boxing as his calling by which he expresses what God deposited in him and each time he fights in the ring, he feels he will be reflecting back that glory to God where it belongs. He intimated to us that his only fuel is the descipline he gets from his faith in the Lord. It's all paying off, Ndabazinhle currently sits on 7 professional fights, 0 losses, 0 draws with 2 wins by Technical Knockout.

The story of Ndabazinhle Petros Phiri reflects well on Fig’s Mission Statement :

"Faith In God Ministries International stands on the world scene to proclaim the Gospel of the kingdom, to establish believers in God’s eternal word and release them to their age-long purposes"

and Motto:

"Bring them in, Train them and Release them"

Ndabezihle and many others are living testimonies of individuals unleashed to their puporses and are thriving in their God ordained purposes.

*Stronger For Longer* (21/05/2025)

Drug and Substance abuse has become a menace destroying both the young and old, ripping apart families, communities and has become a national security threat for governments across the globe.

The world battles a secret enemy which only shows it's face often when its too late...

Be informed if you didn’t know. Be reminded if you knew!

For us all at Fig, what happens in Zimbabwe is often symbolic, figurative reflective of the state of Church in the entire Fig World. In October of 2023, Zimbabwean Government declared Drug and Substance abuse a national disaster lamenting it's baleful impact among the youthful populace. Mitigatory measures and initiatives were put in place to try and arrest the runaway effects of this scourge on the Sourthen African Nation. This became an ongoing onslaught until this day to the extend that almost all Radio Stations, messages against Drug and Substance Abuse are played before News Bulletins.

Meanwhile, Faith In God Ministries International has not been observing all this from a distance. Fig through various arms and initiatives has been pushing back and holding fort against Drug and Substance abuse through Operation Hope Trust activities, The Family Institution, and multiple Commando sessions in Church Assemblies across the globe on Sunday.

*Building* was set as Fig's 2nd Strategic Objective spanning the 2025 - 2030, this is extremely symbolic and well calculated. It's often quite easy for people to think of the BUILDING objective as limited to the construction of infrastructure and amenities only. There is much more to this Objective as it also entails building people, families, communities and nations for Posterity. In Fig's recently ended Season, this BUILDING Objective gave birth to "Family Institution" a Strategic Ministry aimed at deliberately building the Family Unit which is considered as the fundamental unit of Church. Fig's Family Institution Ministry is led by Bishop Gurupira and together with Operation Hope Trust International they also battled the scourge of Drug and substance abuse in their own capacity.

So what?

Good question! The fight against Drug and Substance is everyone's fight because non is spared directly or inderectly. There has to be an eagerness in every leader to fight this silent enemy. That eagerness is very health, benign and a good starting point.

Goshen International Bible College and Operation Hope Trust International both Fig’s arms will be providing some valuable training that will equip Leaders on how to combat the scourge of Drug and Substance abuse. From time to time they will be arming us all with the necessary tools and skill to use along this battle.

It is worth while to attend these trainings for ourselves and those we lead. For our Church Assemblies, Communities and nations at large. Goshen and OPHTI should also leverage technology and dispense these trainings globally.

Attached below is a flyer for one such training event , we are encouraged to participate.

We shall not be like drunken drivers on the information highways and lose out on a opportunity to learn..... See you there physically or virtually
