Keane is an English alternative rock band formed in 1995 in Battle, East Sussex, known for their emotional, piano-driven sound and soaring melodies. The band features Tom Chaplin on lead vocals, Tim Rice-Oxley on piano and keyboards, Richard Hughes on drums, and Jesse Quin on bass. Keane became internationally famous with their 2004 debut album Hopes and Fears, which included the hit songs “Somewhere Only We Know,” “Everybody’s Changing,” and “Bedshaped.” Unlike many rock bands, Keane became especially distinctive for building their sound around piano rather than a traditional guitarist. Their later albums included Under the Iron Sea (2006), Perfect Symmetry (2008), Strangeland (2012), and Cause and Effect (2019). After a hiatus beginning in 2013, the band reunited and continued performing, celebrating the 20th anniversary of Hopes and Fears with touring in 2024.

The Smashing Pumpkins are an American alternative rock band formed in Chicago, Illinois, in 1988 by vocalist and guitarist Billy Corgan, guitarist James Iha, bassist D’arcy Wretzky, and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin. Alice in Chains is an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1987 by guitarist and vocalist Jerry Cantrell and drummer Sean Kinney, later joined by bassist Mike Starr and vocalist Layne Staley. The band became one of the major groups of the 1990s Seattle grunge movement, known for their dark, heavy sound that combined metal riffs, grunge melodies, and haunting vocal harmonies.

Their breakthrough came with the 1990 album Facelift, featuring the hit song “Man in the Box.” They reached worldwide success with albums such as Dirt, which included classics like “Would?”, “Rooster,” and “Down in a Hole.” Their unique sound was built around Jerry Cantrell’s heavy guitar work and the powerful vocal blend between Cantrell and Layne Staley.

During the mid-1990s, the band struggled with internal problems and Layne Staley’s battle with addiction, leading to a long period of inactivity. Layne Staley passed away in 2002, marking the end of an era for the band’s original lineup.

Alice in Chains reunited in 2005 with new vocalist William DuVall sharing vocal duties with Jerry Cantrell. They released new albums including Black Gives Way to Blue, The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here, and Rainier Fog.

Today, Alice in Chains is regarded as one of the most influential bands from the grunge era, alongside Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden. Their music remains respected for its emotional lyrics, heavy guitar sound, and the unforgettable voice of Layne Staley.
