Mattia Binotto is quitting as Ferrari team boss after an abysmal season. Ferrari lost more than 100 points in the first 13 races, didn’t win a race in the second half of the year, and ultimately finished distant runner-ups behind Red Bull.

Max Verstappen says media coverage of his incident with Sergio Perez in Brazil has been “disgusting” and “pretty ridiculous”.

On the final lap in Brazil, Verstappen refused to let Perez overtake him to get more points as he fights for 2nd in the championship.

Verstappen previously said he had reasons for what he did, but has not said exactly what those are.

“I looked very bad, you know, in the media, but also they didn't have the clear picture,” Verstappen said. “They were threatening my sister and my Mum, my girlfriend, my Dad and for me that goes way too far.”

Verstappen was challenged to set the record straight, but refused. “I'm just a bit fed up with all this bu****it, just going around all the time.”

Mick Schumacher, the son of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, will not be driving in in 2023. He is being replaced at Haas by former Renault driver Nico Hulkenberg. “I don’t want to hide the fact that I am very disappointed,” Schumacher said. “My fire burns for Formula 1 and I will fight hard to return.”

Fernando Alonso started in 17th, but finished in 5th - scoring much-needed points as Alpine fights to beat McLaren in this year’s championship. Alpine now has a 19 point lead. “We needed these points,” Alonso said post-race in Brazil.
