To stop shaking while welding, focus on physical bracing, relaxing your grip, and managing your energy levels. Most shaking is caused by muscle tension or lack of support, rather than a lack of skill.

✅1. Physical Support and Bracing
The "ABC" Rule: Always Be Comfortable. Before you strike an arc, do a "dry run" to ensure you can reach the end of the weld without straining your arm.
Create Anchor Points: Use a "third point of contact" by resting your elbow, wrist, or even a hip against a sturdy surface like a table or wall.
Tuck Your Elbows: Keep your elbows tucked into your ribs to stabilize your arms against your torso.
Use Your "Off" Hand: Use your non-welding hand to support your torch hand. In stick welding, you can even steady the rod with a gloved finger at the start of the weld.
Weight Management: Drape the heavy welding lead over your shoulder or a nearby bench to prevent the weight from pulling on your wrist.

✅2. Grip and Technique
Relax Your "Death Grip": Squeezing the torch too hard will cause your muscles to tremble. Your grip should be firm but light enough that someone could easily pull the torch from your hand.
Tool Helpers: Use a TIG Finger to allow your hand to slide along hot metal surfaces for better control.
Embrace the Shake: If you have a minor, consistent tremor, use it to your advantage as a "natural weave" to help tie in the edges of the weld puddle.

✅3. Body and Breath Control
Breathing: Don't hold your breath. Use deep, slow "belly breathing" to keep your upper body still and your nerves calm.
Dietary Adjustments: Avoid excessive caffeine or energy drinks, which trigger tremors. Ensure you eat beforehand, as low blood sugar can also cause shaking.
Hydration and Rest: Fatigue and dehydration are major contributors to muscle instability.

✅4. Safety and Health Note
Welding "Shakes": If you experience flu-like shivering or intense shaking after welding galvanized steel, you may have Metal Fume Fever (also known as "the shakes"). Always use proper ventilation and respiratory protection.

A fl**ge is a flat, disc-shaped component used to connect pipes, valves, and other equipment in a way that allows for easy disassembly for maintenance or inspection. While some fl**ges are threaded or utilize a lap joint, many are permanently attached to piping systems through various welding techniques depending on the required pressure and temperature ratings.
