Bakit Ako Sumasang-ayon sa “Walang Sleepover”

Para sa aking anak na tin-edyer,
Alam ko na pakiramdam mo ay hindi ako patas kapag sinasabi kong hindi pwede.
Alam ko rin na parang hindi kita pinagkakatiwalaan.
Pero ang totoo—hindi ikaw ang hindi ko pinagkakatiwalaan… kundi ang mundong ito.

Ang mundong ito ay maaaring maging malupit.
Hindi lahat ay may mabuting hangarin.
Hindi lahat ng tahanan ay ligtas.
Sa likod ng mga nakasarang pinto, may mga bagay na pwedeng mangyari na kayang baguhin ang buhay magpakailanman—mga bagay na hinding-hindi ko na maibabalik para sa’yo.

Kaya kapag sinasabi kong “hindi pwede ang sleepover,” hindi ito dahil gusto kong alisin ang kasiyahan mo.
Ito’y dahil alam kong ang “kasiyahan” ay maaari agad maging panganib.
Ito’y dahil mas pipiliin kong magtampo ka sa akin ngayon,
kaysa masaktan ka sa paraang hinding-hindi na kita mapoprotektahan.

Ang “hindi” ko ay hindi pagtanggi.
Ang “hindi” ko ay pagmamahal.
At balang araw, maiintindihan mo rin ito.
