A Throwback Thursday

In the 90’s, our dear mother (Keep Resting) would go out of her way to make sure we eat. Many times she took us to the bush where we had to fetch bitterleaf leaves with each of us carrying sack bags. After getting the leaves, we stock them in the bags and carry them home. Then we begin the phase two 😊 which is washing and then pounding the leaves to remove the excess bitterness. After that, we had to distribute them in small nylons and then take them to the Restaurants to sell. They would pay us for as much as we supplied.
Our dear mother would use the money to buy us Food 😭😭😭 to eat, she buys even turkey 🍗 and chicken for us just so we don’t feel left out in this wicked world. She was and is our Hero.
People would insult us when they see us in the bush gathering Bitterleaf, one woman even went as far as composing a song for us whenever she sees us plucking Bitterleaf from the bush near her beautiful home “Ka ma mji anwu ka m do li wa, uwa wu ndoli ndoli” 😭😭😭. It is well.
