Just some random pharmacy haul back in December 2024, and my two cents about the current pharmacy scene in Dubai:

Honestly, they don’t really feel like pharmacies anymore.

Remember when going to the pharmacy meant one thing—meds?
The place your doctor told you to go to after a checkup to get that pill that can make you feel better or rather take away your stomach pain?

Well, these days, pharmacies here feel more like beauty stores. They're literally the cousins and stepsisters of Sephora now.

I’d say about 10–20% of the shelves are actual medicines, ( and a huge percentage of that are beauty supplements too ) while the other 80–90% is filled with endless jars and bottles of skincare and beauty products.

On one hand, some people might think that it's an advantage, or that you're making a conscious decision for buying a product from a pharmacy. Because, somehow the products feels a bit more “medicated” or trustworthy in a way, 'coz technically, it comes from a pharmacy.

And don’t get me wrong—as a beauty lover myself, I’m really not complaining. I actually find it so convenient if your plan is to pick up a multivitamin and a toner in one trip. But the last time I went to the pharmacy, I only planned to buy a bottle of supplements… and somehow ended up walking out with a moisturizer, shower oil, and sunscreen that weren’t even on my list 😅.

So yeah, I do understand the math of ROI and the booming of Kbeauty products and its marketing.

I just can’t help but notice the shift 👀.

Sometimes I wonder, shouldn’t a pharmacy still feel like a pharmacy? I mean, we already have Sephora, or Watsons, and a million online shops for all our beauty needs.

So there, nothing too serious, I’m just not sure if this change is a good thing or a bad thing, it just makes me think 🤔.

Final Review: Beauty Of Joseon Ginseng Cleansing Oil | ☆☆☆

Key ingredients:
soybean oil • ginseng seed oil

I'm not a chemist, but I do know the popularity of ginseng and soybean in Koreans overall skin health and well-aging, the top reason I decided to purchased and try this product and see the benefits for myself.

I am inlove with the therapeutic scent and the soothing experience of applying it into my face.

While it's not the most lightweight cleansing oil I've tried, it's still light and gentle enough to provide a pleasant cleansing experience.

My only issue is the pump dispenser, which fails to dispense a consistent amount of product and is often faulty.

Unfortunately, this inconsistency sometimes spoils my overall experience of using this—while I'm not sure if this is a common issue with all bottles, I hope it's just a one-off occurrence.

Despite this issue, I still believe this product is a great choice for double cleansing and I'm willing to give it another shot in the future in the hopes that the problem is isolated to my particular bottle.

A post reminder to never, ever forget your SPF's ☀️.

I'm curious—are you more of a sunstick person or do you prefer sun cream, lotion, or gel?

Personally, I’m a bit old school and find conventional sunscreens to be more ideal, especially lightweight, runny lotions.

I feel like these types of sunscreens are real time savers and apply much better and more evenly, providing excellent sun protection.

Totally been loving these two for my cleansing routine✨.

—I love how the cleansing oil so much, but I'm truly impressed by its packaging, it pumps more than enough product and it's such a breeze to use.
—It feels so gentle on the skin and so therapeutic to use.

—The toner is just as lovely and so addicting to use. I've been layering my skin with hydration using this and it absorbs very well.
—I've also been using this as a cleansing toner in the morning or as a base before trying/testing/applying on another toner.

What's your current fave cleansing products?

Happy Friyayyy!!!

Just wanted to pass by and flex this toner that's making my skin feeling all plump, healthy and glowy.

I've been a longtime fan of the Supple Preparation Unscented Toner, and it's no surprise that it's reached a milestone of 5 million bottles in total sales!
