Some of the best moments I’ve had in watches were never just about the watches.
It was the conversations at Basel. The energy during Watches & Wonders. Meeting people from completely different parts of the world, yet connected by the same obsession with design, craftsmanship, history, and horology. After spending over a decade in this space, I realised the community aspect of watches is just as important as the pieces themselves.
And I kept asking myself… why should that feeling only exist at international watch shows?
That’s really why I started ist culture
To build a real community for watch lovers here in Nigeria. A space for conversations, discovery, education, meet-ups, and shared passion. Because trust me, there are far more passionate watch people in Nigeria than most realise.
For our first Lagos meet-up, we partnered with a brand that perfectly reflects what modern watch culture can be. Great design, real history, and accessibility. Designed by the legendary Emmanuel Gueit, the mind behind some of the most iconic watch designs ever created, Dennison brings a fresh approach with beautiful stone dials, strong case design, and an accessible price point that allows more people to genuinely enjoy collecting.
The first Wrist Culture meet-up in Lagos for the Dennison pop-up was a reminder that this is only the beginning. Great people, great conversations, and a community slowly coming together one watch at a time.
