Muzaffarabad:
remains gripped by political uncertainty as the no-confidence motion against the Azad Kashmir prime minister sees no breakthrough between key parties.

According to sources, the Pakistan Peoples Party has so far been unable to convince the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz to accept a power-sharing formula.

PML-N remains firm on its call for early elections, while the PPP wants the assembly to complete its tenure and is pushing to bring the PML-N into the government.

Senior leadership of both parties has also failed to reach an agreement, prolonging the deadlock.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto has called a party meeting this evening to finalize the candidate for the prime minister’s slot and discuss other political matters.

Internal disagreements also persist within the PPP over possible nominees for the prime ministership, further complicating the situation as the no-confidence move hangs in balance.

Muzaffarabad Political tensions in Azad Jammu and Kashmir have intensified as the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz sets a new condition for supporting the Pakistan Peoples Party in its move to oust the AJK prime minister.

According to party sources, the PML N has agreed to back the no confidence motion against the AJK premier only if fresh elections are held after completing constitutional requirements, including the appointment of a new chief election commissioner.

PML N believes that only new elections can bring political stability to the region. Party leaders fear the PPP may use billions of rupees in development funds for political gains and influence future polls, sources said. They also claim the PPP could leverage thousands of upcoming government job appointments to secure an electoral edge.

We will sit in the opposition even after voting for PPP, solely to push for immediate elections, the party maintains.

The PPP, however, is reportedly insisting on completing its term and wants the PML N to join the government instead of demanding early polls.

The matter is expected to be taken up again after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif returns to Pakistan, when senior leaders of both parties are likely to meet for another round of talks.

Supreme Court of Pakistan Declares Gilgit-Baltistan a Tax-Free Zone

Islamabad: In a landmark decision, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has declared Gilgit-Baltistan a tax-free zone, marking a historic victory for the region’s business community and residents.

The case was filed by two well-known businessmen from Gojal, Mr. Raziq and Mr. Daulat Karim, who challenged the imposition of federal taxes in Gilgit-Baltistan. After thorough hearings, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the petitioners and issued an official directive recognizing Gilgit-Baltistan as a tax-free region.

The judgment is being hailed as a major relief for traders, industrialists and local communities, who have long argued that GB should not be subjected to federal taxes without full constitutional representation.

Business leaders across the region have welcomed the decision, saying it will boost investment, trade, and economic activity from Khunjerab to Gilgit. The ruling also strengthens the case for granting Gilgit-Baltistan its due constitutional and economic rights within Pakistan.
