The Brothers’ Struggle

In a small, crumbling house on the edge of the city, two brothers, Jaden and Malik, stood face to face, their voices echoing off the peeling walls. Years of hardship had hardened them, turning love into resentment.

"You never listen!" Jaden shouted, pushing Malik back.

"And you never stop blaming me!" Malik fired back, knocking over a fragile wooden table in his anger.

Their mother’s old lamp flickered, casting jagged shadows over the broken furniture and torn curtains. This house had once been their sanctuary, but poverty had chipped away at it—just like it had chipped away at them.

They fought, fists meeting flesh, their anger fueled by years of struggle. The little money they made was never enough, and each blamed the other for their misfortunes. As they grappled, something crashed—the last photo of their mother, shattered on the floor.

Both froze, breathless, staring at the broken glass. Their mother’s smile, now fragmented, seemed to watch them with sadness.

Jaden sank to his knees, his rage melting into something heavier. "What are we doing, man?" he whispered.

Malik wiped his bleeding lip. "Surviving."

For the first time in years, they sat together in silence, the weight of their struggle settling between them. They had nothing left—except each other. And maybe, just maybe, that was enough to start.
