The countdown is on for our 20th edition, with the deadline for nominations just days away — August 3 11.59 PM.

Adding to the excitement, we can now officially reveal the date and venue for this year’s gala ceremony. The region’s premier celebration of interior design will return to the spectacular Joharah Ballroom at Madinat Jumeirah for an unforgettable evening honouring the industry’s finest talent.

Announcing CID Awards 2026: MENA 📣

Nominations are officially open.

Celebrating 20 years of our flagship event, designed to recognise the most innovative people, projects and design firms across the region.

The gala ceremony is held in Dubai each September, following February’s CID Awards: Saudi and June’s CID Awards: Hospitality.

Industry professionals are encouraged to nominate their projects and peers for recognition across 35 visionary categories. Here is what you need to know:

Welcoming Maison Yoca to Dubai’s thriving design community ✨🇦🇪

As Maison Yoca (.yoca) enters the Middle East market with a new studio in Dubai, we caught up with architect and creative director Sarah Najmi Bilgrami () who founded the multi-award-winning luxury design house alongside Syed Zayd Bilgrami.

For Sarah, art and architecture have always been intrinsic to her upbringing, and her path towards a design career has been shaped by both pinch-me, award-winning milestones and quiet moments of observation, exploration, and discovery through travel – each contributing to a natural design instinct.

“I was always made aware that a designer’s role runs far deeper than the selection of tapestry or the placement of art,” shares Bilgrami.

“It is a meticulous curation of the thoughtful integration of a visual language into the fabric of someone’s life. My greatest ongoing inspiration remains the people I design for. Understanding them fully, and then carefully, honestly, educating them in the fundamentals of a design language that serves who they are – that is the work that matters most to me.”

An inspiring ethos that shapes much of the work in our region, an exciting moment to celebrate.

Introducing the W Penthouse 🌊

Designed for a young couple, the 17,900 sq ft Palm Jumeirah home connects Mediterranean clarity with subtle Latin warmth, using coastal tones and textures.

The project emphasises restraint and continuity – bringing architectural rhythm, depth of materiality and proportion together in an expression of quiet luxury.

“The concept was driven by a clear intention; to bring the presence of the sea into the interior,” explains Guillermo Blanco, founder and creative director of (WDM) who completed the project.

“Given the spectacular views, we wanted the house to feel connected to its surroundings, drawing from the tones and textures of the beach to shape the material language.”

Rethinking how we build

There is a persistent myth in architecture that sustainability and beauty are in tension – that designing responsibly means making sacrifices in experience, material quality, or spatial ambition. In practice, the opposite is true. The most enduring buildings we admire are invariably those that were designed with care, with restraint, and with a clear sense of what they were for. Longevity and quality are not in conflict. They are the same thing.

A luminous residential project to bring into the spotlight 🌟

The design vision for the Sienna Views Villa renovation was brought to life by Soul Road (.co) in collaboration with Akoa Interiors (.interiors), and it is a masterclass in architectural and design restraint.

Located within Jumeirah Golf Estates, it began as a “good” property in a prime location but now boasts completely reimagined interiors and has undergone a comprehensive revision of the floor plan, along with an architectural overhaul of the façade and rear elevation – placing the 10,000 sq ft property in its own league of design excellence.

Defined by a minimalist aesthetic and a seamless indoor–outdoor narrative, the villa celebrates quiet luxury at its finest. “We weren’t afraid of white space,” says Sophie Newcombe, founder and managing director of Soul Road, the Dubai-based studio. “There is often a temptation to fill every wall with either a rich material or an artwork, but we were determined to let the house breathe and allow the space itself to shine.”

Blank canvas minimalism bolstered by a thoughtful design process makes for timeless and inspiring spaces.
