Almost a year ago, I had an idea. It took me a little while to bring it to life, but where there’s a will, there’s a way ❤️ The universe really does come together to make things happen.
I first met the Taabu organization two years ago in Cairo. I visited again last year and left with a full heart and a clear idea of how I could support their work in a more sustainable way.

That idea brought me back to my native Peru, where, together with my friend Rodrigo Durand we brought these designs to life through the hands of local artisans. Inspired by Tatreez, they reimagined their craft to create something truly unique; a meeting point between the Andes and the Arab world.

You can find the designs through the link in my bio. 100% of the sales revenue will go directly to Taabu Club, while I will personally cover all production costs separately.

The word Chachapoyas comes the tribal name “chacha” and “puya” (or puyu) meaning cloud. They were named the people of the clouds by the Incas who later conquered them.

The chachapoyas world was built in the high Andean jungle, a place where the mountains meet the Amazon, and every horizon invites you to see the world differently.

Where did you first travel abroad as a child?
Chile is this country that feels like Europe with a Latin heart. A place that feels so familiar and close yet so different. Its music, its food, its landscapes, its expressions (sometimes tricky my to decipher in Spanish) satisfies the curiosity of avid travelers.

We came to ski and although the storms led to the roads closure to the mountains, we enjoyed discovering Santiago under the never-ending rain, revisiting places and reuniting with long time friends.

Chile carries the young memories of the first trip abroad with my parents and now I am creating new ones, travelling with my own teenagers and rediscovering our bond.

This was the first, and only, time I travelled alone with them. If I could tell my younger self one thing, it would be to enjoy a little more and stress a little less.

Let them scream a little louder. Let them make a mess. Hug them a bit longer and keep looking at them because they grow up in the blink of an eye.
