CCTV is now a must on all Dubai buildings
Dubai landlords have three months to install CCTV in all residential and commercial buildings, as well as villa compounds across the Emirate, according to Dubai Police.
In an attempt to decrease crime rates across the city, the decision has been taken following a number of incidents in buildings without CCTV.
Should building owners not comply with the new rule by end of November, they will reportedly face a hefty fine.
The Director of the Protection Systems Department, Dubai Police, Major Arif Al Janahi told Emirates 24/7: "Landlords of 25,000 buildings still have to install surveillance cameras and security system in their buildings. We have given them a grace period of three months which began on August 26."
All installed cameras are required to meet technical specifications such as a clear image and the storage capacity of minimum one month worth of footage.
We can only hope the coverage of all buildings will serve its purpose and help fight crime across Dubai.
