Caterer Middle East is the region’s flagship food and beverage management title and an essential read for industry professionals, including executive chefs, F&B directors, brand owners, outlet managers, sommeliers and F&B franchisees. Each monthly issue of Caterer Middle East serves up the best news, interviews, analysis and insights into the latest F&B trends, training techniques and products. The magazine features casual standalone outlets and catering businesses alongside fine dining hotel operations located across the Gulf and Middle East. Caterer Middle East helps readers stay ahead in a fiercely competitive market place, focusing on best practice and championing core industry issues. The magazine generates exclusive content through the Caterer Head Chef Survey and roundtables, and keeps its readers up-to-date on industry developments. With a decade in publication, the magazine also has associated conferences and an awards ceremony. Launched in 2008, the Caterer Middle East Awards is one of the industry’s largest events. It aims to recognise the hard work and dedication of a variety of F&B professionals, outlets and companies across the region. The glittering ceremony is attended by leading restaurateurs and hoteliers across the Middle East region, with extensive coverage of the event in the magazine and website. Additionally, each year Caterer Middle East hosts a series of conferences which provide networking opportunities for F&B professionals from the region. In 2012, the first Food and Business forum took place where the state of the business in the region was examined. It has had two successful editions, and features keynote addresses, interactive workshops and panel discussions with the region’s well-known restaurateurs. Caterer Middle East is the region’s most respected food & beverage publication, and is the only BPA audited publication in the industry in the Middle East.

This year marks 20 years since the completion of construction on Jumeirah Lakes Towers’ (JLT) first building, Saba Tower, following the establishment of the master developer Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) in 2002.

Initially, JLT more than lived up to its name, with four lakes: Almas West, Almas East, Elucio and Allure. However, in late 2012, DMCC announced that Lake Elucio would be drained and replaced with a 590,000 sq ft park featuring open lawns, picnic areas, pedestrian boulevards, a pedestrian link bridge to the south side of JLT and access to retail outlets on the promenade – plus plenty of new restaurants.

Here are the neighbourhoods' most consistent and reliable restaurants, where global pickings span everything from Saigon to Chennai and from falafel to garlic knots. These restaurants provide the familiar and create community, far removed from restaurant-as-nightclub and resting models on the front desk, although these places are still going strong in other neighbourhoods.

She recently expanded the footprint of riina, with the launch of a new retail concept named mandariina.

O Beach Dubai has closed its current venue, less than two years after launching in the emirate.

The brand said ongoing redevelopment of the surrounding area means it is “no longer able to offer the full beachfront experience that defines O Beach and that our guests have come to expect”.

However, O Beach said it remains “fully committed to Dubai” and will reveal details of a future home in due course.

The concept debuted in Dubai in 2024 as the brand’s first expansion beyond Ibiza, bringing its signature mix of pool parties, DJs and large-scale entertainment to the city.

1720 Hospitality founder and CEO Paul McGee revealed plans to open The Black Horse in The Greens, targeting what he described as a gap in the neighbourhood for a British pub combining live music, sport and a community atmosphere.

Scheduled to open in October 2026 at The Onyx Tower 2, the gastropub was developed by the team behind Mezzanine Bar & Kitchen in Souk Madinat Jumeirah, The Black Sheep at Pullman Dubai Jumeirah Lakes Towers and delivery concept Frank’s Chippy.

Speaking exclusively to Caterer Middle East, McGee said the location had been on the group’s radar because of the opportunity to serve residents closer to home.

Two of Dubai’s most recognisable chefs, Reif Othman and Kelvin Cheung, will put the person behind the plate under the spotlight at Arabian Travel Market on Wednesday, September 16, as part of a panel examining how chef identity is shaping the way diners choose and experience restaurants.

Titled More Than the Menu: The Chef Narrative and Culinary Identity, the session will take place from 4.10pm to 4.55pm on the Global Stage. It will be moderated by Yousra Zaki, Group Food Editor for Time Out GCC.

The discussion will consider whether diners are increasingly looking for a connection with the chef behind a restaurant, rather than simply responding to an Instagrammable dish or its handy location. It will also examine how far a chef’s personal story should influence a brand, and when storytelling begins to feel more like marketing than genuine identity.
