Here’s how living sustainably helps me save money:
I follow the 5 R’s (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rot) — meaning I only bring home what I truly need. Less waste = less spending.
1ļøāƒ£ Plan a weekly menu + stick to your list (never shop hungry!).
2ļøāƒ£ Freeze kitchen scraps + turn them into veggie stock.
3ļøāƒ£ Buy in bulk using your own containers.
4ļøāƒ£ Bring your own containers for take-out — I usually get a little extra.
5ļøāƒ£ Make your own cleaning products (cheaper + healthier).
6ļøāƒ£ Keep only clothes you love. Buy durable pieces + shop pre-loved brands like Shop Retold.
What are your favourite money-saving zero-waste tips?

HostingĀ Mama Earth TalkĀ has given me the privilege of speaking with some truly extraordinary people from across the planet… and few conversations have stayed with me like this one. šŸ’™

Dr. Sylvia EarleĀ .earle  — oceanographer, explorer, and the legendaryĀ ā€œHer Deepnessā€Ā ā€” once described the moment a wave knocked her over as a child… and how it sparked a lifelong love affair with the ocean.

And yes,Ā she still holds the record for the deepest walk on the sea floor.
How incredible is that?

If you’re inspired by the ocean, exploration, or people who dedicate their lives to protecting our planet… this episode is a must-listen to learn more about her and the amazing work withĀ

Our current dry cleaner (just around the corner from home) has been a bit anxious about my reusable laundry bags — apparently, the fear of losing the bag is greater than losing my clothes šŸ˜…

So, we’re meeting halfway for now: I return all the wire hangers and the plastic garment covers each week, and they reuse them. Is it ideal? Not quite. It’s not the seamless setup I had with my previous laundry company that closed down — but it’s still a step forward.

Sometimes sustainability isn’t about being perfect — it’s about finding progress over perfection. Small steps, honest conversations, and consistency go a long way.

šŸ’š My goal is to slowly build enough trust with them to bring back my reusable bags again.

Have you ever tried sending your laundry in reusable bags? I’d love to hear how your experience went!

šŸŒ Sustainability shouldn’t be a tick-the-box exercise.

Yet, that’s exactly what it becomes in many workplaces — a checklist, a policy, or a poster in the breakroom. But real sustainability is lived, experienced, and shared.

That’s why I’ve designed interactive sustainability workshops and Lunch & Learn sessions for corporate teams — to help bridge that gap between awareness and action.

šŸ’” These sessions go beyond theory — they’re designed to:
✨ Spark real conversations about sustainability challenges relevant to your industry.
✨ Build stronger, more connected teams through hands-on, purpose-driven collaboration.
✨ Empower your employees to take meaningful, practical steps — both at work and at home.

One of the hottest topics right now? Circular thinking — reimagining how we design, use, and reuse resources. It’s not just good for the planet — it’s great for innovation, creativity, and team morale.

If your organization wants to inspire its people to think differently and act boldly for the planet, let’s chat about bringing a session to your team. 🌿

Curious to learn more? Comment ā€œSustainabilitySquadā€ below (or DM me) and I’ll send you more details on how to bring these sessions to your workplace.

Our very first online course is live and ready to help you reduce your waste — without the guilt or overwhelm?

Over the past few years, I’ve poured my energy into exploring what real sustainability looks like. From earning a Postgraduate Degree in Environmental Science and a Master’s in Sustainable Design, to hosting the Mama Earth Talk Podcast since 2018 — which is celebrating its 200th episode today! šŸŽ‰

Through hundreds of conversations with global experts, thousands of chats with our Crazy Birds community, and years of consulting with individuals, SMEs, and corporates, one thing has become crystal clear:
šŸ‘‰ People don’t need more advice — they need clarity.

Both individuals and small business owners want sustainability to feel simple, doable, and guilt-free — something they can be proud of without the overwhelm.

And that’s exactly why I created Living Lighter: A Practical Guide to Reducing Waste — our very first online program. šŸŒ
It’s designed to help you take real, joyful, lasting steps toward a more sustainable life — without feeling pressured to be perfect.

I wasn’t always the eco-warrior you see today. 🌱
There was a moment when I looked around and realised just how much waste I was creating — and it hit me hard. I felt overwhelmed, unsure where to start, and honestly… a little lost.

But that struggle? It sparked a journey. šŸ’«

From collecting coffee capsules to sewing my own clothes, every small step taught me something new about living lighter — and that progress (not perfection) truly matters.

✨ That’s why I created Living Lighter: A Practical Guide to Reducing Waste — an online course designed to help you take your first sustainable steps without the guilt or overwhelm.

Inside you’ll find:
šŸŒŽ 5 bite-sized modules
šŸŽ„ 38 easy-to-follow videos
šŸ’š Over 150 eco-wins
šŸ—“ļø A 21-day guided activity plan to make habits stick

Let’s make progress together — one small, powerful step at a time. šŸ’šāœØ

When we’re not considering everyone, we can’t truly have inclusion.

Last week, I had the honour of meetingĀ  fellow Australian Paralympian, and listening to her speak about what inclusion really means. She has been such an inspiration, and I’m excited to see the impact that she andĀ Team Angel WolfĀ will bring as they adviseĀ Dubai AirportsĀ alongside other incredible ambassadors.

I was also fortunate enough to have a wonderful conversation withĀ Delphine from Ā on the podcast — if you haven’t listened yet, I highly recommend it!

How many capsules do you think I used in this art piece? ā˜•

This lamp — Coffee Addiction — was where my sustainability journey truly began, many years ago.

It started with a love for coffee (and the beautiful colours of capsules). I began collecting and cleaning each one by hand, experimenting with shapes until I created hundreds of tiny flowers.

It took 913 capsules to bring this piece to life. And while the lamp shines beautifully, the real lightbulb moment was realising how much ā€œwasteā€ we produce — and how much of it still holds potential.

This was the first time I saw art and sustainability come together — creating beauty from something most people throw away.

If you’ve ever wondered where to start living more sustainably, this was mine.

And now, I’m helping others find theirs. šŸŒ
Join me inside my new online course (Waiting list - link in bio) — where small steps lead to big change.

If you’d told me a few years ago that I’d be sewing my own clothes, I probably would’ve laughed.

But learning to sew has honestly been one of the best skills I’ve picked up on this sustainability journey. 🪔

I’m not a seamstress — not even close — but knowing how to repair a torn seam, adjust a hem, or turn leftover fabric into something new has changed the way I see my wardrobe.

It’s amazing how empowering it feels to fix something instead of tossing it away.

And I couldn’t have done it without Olga — the true MVP who helped me thread my first needle and turn fabric scraps into wearable wins.

So here’s your friendly reminder:
Try that skill you’ve been curious about. Learn to mend, make, repair, grow, or build. It’s not about perfection — it’s about progress, creativity, and keeping things in use a little longer.

What skill has changed your sustainable journey?

What do you do with your unwanted clothing?

The average person throws away nearly 40 kg of clothing every year, and 95% of it could have been reused or recycled.

For years, my husband and I collected a t-shirt from every city we visited. It was our travel ritual — until I realized my cupboard was overflowing with shirts I never wore.

So, I decided to stop collecting things and start collecting memories.

I kept a few favourites, donated some, and turned the rest into reusable bags — perfect for gifting, zero waste, and filled with stories from our adventures.

Now, when we visit Hard Rock, we skip the merch and share a straw-free drink instead.

Because the best souvenirs aren’t things — they’re moments.

What do you love to collect?
