I’ve always admired the story of Shah Rukh Khan, not just as a fan, but because his journey reflects values I hold close; starting small, working relentlessly, and never losing sight of the bigger dream.
A few weeks ago, I was in Mumbai and I decided to visit Mannat like every other fan of his. Took a picture with the nameplate, did the SRK pose. And along with me were 100's of other fans, just waiting for a glimpse of King Khan. And I realized that I wasn’t just looking at a house, I was witnessing the impact of a story that continues to inspire generations.
Here are a few things that truly stayed with me from that day:
- What I relate to: His story; from humble beginnings to global impact which is a reminder that with faith and hard work, anything is possible.
- What I admire: The way he connects with people. Even from a distance, he makes them feel seen and valued.
- What I witnessed: Strangers from all walks of life gathered in hope and admiration, united by the story of one man.
- What I strive for: His work ethic. He's constantly creating, performing, building. It’s something I deeply respect, and something I strive to bring into my own journey. I remember asking someone from the production team who were with us about when he usually returns home, they said he is hardly home, that he is always filming.
It’s not just about King Khan being an actor, it goes far beyond that. It’s about what he represents - the dream, the struggle, the success, and the connection he’s built with millions of people from all walks of life, and across the world.
Mumbai has so much to teach me, inshAllah.
