A picture of King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (may Allah have mercy upon him) upon his arrival at Al-Safa Palace in Makkah on the evening of Saturday, 17 Ramadan 1419 AH, corresponding to December 25, 1999, to spend the last ten days of Ramadan at Masjid Al Haram. The King was accompanied to Makkah by the Governor of Riyadh, Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Minister of State and Member of the Council of Ministers, Prince Abdulaziz bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Also pictured is Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdullah Al-Subayyil, the former General President of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques and former member of the Council of Senior Scholars (may Allah have mercy upon him).

Red carpets existed both inside and outside Masjid Al Nabawi (and also Masjid Al Haram). Yesterday, the final section of the outer yards of the Prophet’s Mosque were furnished with new green carpets.

Taraweeh in Masjid Al Nabawi on the evening of the completion of the Qur’an, night 29 Ramadan 1410 Hijri (Monday, 23 April 1990), led solely by Sheikh Muhammad Ayyoub (رحمه الله).

The Taraweeh schedule that year was historic as Sheikh Muhammad Ayyoub who was aged 37 at the time and in his first appearance led all nights of Taraweeh 20 rakats alone for the duration of Ramadan, except in 3 nights which are the 4th, 5th & 6th in which Sheikh Muhammad Abid (رحمه الله) led in the final 10 rakats of Taraweeh.

A giant of his time, something that was significant and not recorded previously at the Prophet’s Mosque.

May Allah have mercy upon them all and reward them for their sacrifices and service to Islam & Muslims.

Famous recitation of the Basmallah (بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم) in Surah An-Naml by Sheikh Saud Al-Shuraim on the night of the 21st of Ramadan 1415 AH, which was later taken and added to the beginning of audio recordings of many surahs of the Holy Quran recited by Al-Shuraim.

لم يكونوا مجرد أئمة للمسجد الحرام .. كانوا أصوات ليالي رمضان قادوا ليالي الخير‬⁩ لسنوات، معًا، ليلة بعد ليلة؛ جنبًا إلى جنب، نشأ الكثير منا وهو يستمع إليهم ،ربما لن يفهمها الجيل الجديد. قد لا نرى مثلهم مرة أخرى في الحرمين ولكن الحمد لله، لقد عشنا ذلك.

One day, news agencies asked Prince Sultan about the “Grapes of Wrath” sermon in Masjid Al Haram following the dirty Israeli massacre in Qana, Lebanon—which was delivered by Sheikh Ibn Humaid on the first Friday following the Hajj season of 1416 AH (May 1996). At that time, Prince Sultan—may Allah have mercy on him—replied: “The Kingdom’s position was expressed by Sheikh Saleh Ibn Humaid in the sermon at the Grand Mosque!”
