Do we still need to be talking about women in leadership?

This was one of the questions asked by a delegate at last year's Charleston Conference in the US.

And the answer is, yes, we think we do.

Barriers and challenges, such as gender pay gaps and underrepresentation in leadership roles, still exist. While change is happening, it's not happening quickly enough.

This important topic was the focus of a recent panel session, facilitated by Vicky Williams, Emerald's CEO, with three women leaders.

This International Women's Day, let's not only celebrate, let's help accelerate action too.

According to the World Economic Forum, at the current rate of progress, it will take until 2158, (which is roughly five generations from now), to reach full gender parity.

We need to pick up the pace, which is why it's so important to work together, share best practice, drive conversations, and make changes.

We recognise our responsibility to help make publishing more inclusive and equally representative. Behind the scenes we've been working hard to ensure that our organisational actions reflect the ambitions we have for the research our authors publish with us.

Keep an eye out all next week as we focus on women in leadership. We'll be sharing session recordings, resources, best practice, and topical research that is leading the way to make change happen.

Excited to kick start our in-person training sessions in collaboration with Masader Oman to support academic researchers in Oman, under the esteemed patronage of the Oman Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation (MOHERI).

The sessions are led by our Publishing Relationship Manager, Mahynour Okda, in which she provides a comprehensive guide to our resources and step-by-step instructions on publishing in international journals, under the supervision of Mr Muneer ALBattashi, OMAN Research and Education Network (OMREN) Director and Ms Ahad Al Junaibi, Virtual library specialist at (OMREN).
