The 8 Best Places to Visit in Lake Como 🇮🇹

From the postcard streets of Bellagio to the grand hotels of Tremezzo and historic villas of Varenna, each corner of Lake Como offers something different.

Whether you’re visiting for the first time or planning a return trip, these are the 8 places worth adding to your Lake Como itinerary — including where to stay, where to eat and what not to miss in each.

Save for your next Italian summer. 📌

Belagio: For postcard views

Often referred to as the ‘Pearl of Lake Como’, Bellagio sits where the lake splits into its two southern branches, making it one of the most scenic and central villages to explore.

Don’t miss: Salita Serbelloni and Villa Melzi Gardens
Where to stay: Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni, Belvedere Bellagio
Where to eat: Gioya Restaurant Bellagio, Dispensa 63

Como: For shopping and history

As the largest town on the lake, Como blends offers lively piazzas, designer boutiques and excellent restaurants. It’s worth spending time exploring its historic centre too.

Don’t miss: Como Cathedral and Piazza Cavour
Where to stay: Hilton Lake Como
Where to eat: Ristorante Kitchen, Una Finestra Sul Lago

Tremezzo: For old-world glamour

Home to the iconic Grand Hotel Tremezzo and the magnificent Villa Carlotta, it’s one of the most refined destinations on the western shore and ideal for leisurely afternoons by the lake.

Don’t miss: Villa Carlotta and lakeside promenades
Where to stay: Grand Hotel Tremezzo
Where to eat: 🏨🥂 La Darsena Tremezzo, Da Giacomo Lago

Menaggio: For quiet afternoons

Menaggio has one of the prettiest promenades on the lake. Its colourful piazza, cafés and peaceful vibe make it a favourite with visitors looking for a slower pace close to Bellagio.

Don’t miss: Piazza Garibaldi and Lido di Menaggio.
Where to stay: Grand Hotel Victoria, Lake Como
Where to eat: La Grolla Ristorante, Pizzeria Lugano

Varenna: For historic villas

Varenna is one of Lake Como’s most picturesque villages, with pastel-coloured buildings, narrow alleyways and a relaxed atmosphere. Less crowded than Bellagio, it’s perfect for wandering on foot while enjoying some of the lake’s most beautiful scenery.

Don’t miss: Villa Monastero and Villa Cipressi.

We discovered the dreamiest countryside escape in the Cotswolds and couldn’t keep it to ourselves! Well Cottage in the heart of Ramsden was the perfect summer base for exploring some of our favourite spots, while still giving you that peaceful Cotswold village life.

Tucked behind pretty stone walls and a lush garden, the cottage is beautifully styled with country interiors, cosy living spaces, a large kitchen and a sunny terrace made for summer dinners. Spacious, peaceful and full of character — exactly what you want from a Cotswolds stay.

We’d Recommend:
• A pint (or a G&T) at — just a 3-minute stroll away
• Wandering Burford’s antique shops & cafés
• Exploring Chipping Campden and its beautiful Cotswold architecture
• for a morning of food, shopping and coffee
• Dinner at
