Saudi Arabia’s design moment is here, and Kohler marked it with an installation that celebrated culture, wellness, and contemporary luxury at Index Saudi Arabia 2025. Together with HBA , LW Design Group .designgroup , and IDA Global , the brand transformed Riyadh Front into an immersive journey of ideas and experience.

Each studio offered a distinct lens: HBA revealed the elegance of restraint through its Desert Jewel, LW Design shaped a sanctuary where wellness was experienced through every sense, and IDA Global brought drama to life with Golden Nights, blending Saudi heritage with Italian glamour.

As Laura Kohler shared onsite, “You’re not just seeing a line-up of products on a wall, you’re actually coming into a living environment.” That spirit of co-creation turned a showcase into a lasting memory.

What lingered wasn’t just the look of the spaces, but the feeling they created and the possibilities they hint at for the future of design in the Kingdom.

What if architecture guided you the way nature does?

In the UAE Pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025 , the 90 palm-frond columns were never arranged in a rigid grid. Instead, they unfold like the organic paths of an oasis, leading visitors to Woven Legacies — a cinematic clearing where culture takes center stage.

Here, filmmaker Ray Haddad captures Emirati life up close: the rhythm of weaving, the patience of fishing, the intimacy of craft. For Japanese audiences, it is texture, materiality, and humanity revealed through design.

🌿 “The goal is to be continuously inspired by Japanese ways and our own approach to sustainability, which is to be in harmony with the land.”

Shaikha Al Ketbi, Deputy Commissioner General and Creative Director of the UAE Pavilion ( ), explains why the pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025 did not bring live palm trees inside. Instead, it draws on the wisdom of areesh and the philosophy of respecting what the land provides.

This dialogue between Emirati heritage and Japanese craft redefines what sustainable architecture can mean on a global stage.

💡 What does harmony with the land look like in your vision of the future?

💬 Where do you believe designers create the most impact today?

Ex*****on is no longer enough. Futureproof 2027 shows that firms treating designers as “finishers of briefs” will fall behind. By 2027, the most valuable professionals will be those who set direction, shape culture, and act as strategists.

💬 Poll: What should the home of the future prioritise?

🏡 The home is no longer static — it’s a living system.

By 2027, homes will flex with their residents: adaptable layouts, wellness pods built into daily life, and communities designed around connection. At the same time, design-forward attainable housing is proving that affordability and quality don’t have to be at odds.

Our Story

In case it isn’t obvious yet, we simply love Design in all its glorious forms and functions. Even before we set about creating our platform, there was one thing we knew for sure – there are more like us. The only difference is we all have a different understanding of what great design is which often leads to wide ranging opinions and expectations.

We set about doing what we do best

Using the combined awesomeness of our industry knowledge and digital capabilities, we set about creating a platform that would showcase the best of what the region’s Architecture+Design community has to offer.

From large commercial projects, to home-grown designs, we strive to bring you relevant information on those who help bring these works of art to life. Design consultants, project managers, contractors, manufacturers, photographers and products – we want to make sure you know who’s worked behind the scenes.
