📢 Statement by Afghan Development Organization (ADO)

Afghan Development Organization (ADO) welcomes the reopening of the Torkham Gate for Afghan refugees after a period of closure. This step is important and brings relief to many families who have been waiting to return home.

However, we express serious concern over the treatment of Afghan refugees. Closing routes while simultaneously placing pressure and hardship on vulnerable people is inconsistent with international humanitarian principles and human rights standards.

We call on the authorities in Pakistan to treat Afghan refugees with dignity and respect, and to ensure they are provided with adequate time and safe conditions to return to Afghanistan in a peaceful and organized manner. We also strongly urge that Torkham Gate remains open, so that all refugees can return smoothly and without further hardship.

🤝 ADO stands for humanity, dignity, and justice for all.

Press Statement
Afghan Development Organization (ADO)

Afghan Development Organization (ADO) strongly condemns the recent incidents in Kunar Province and several other regions of Afghanistan, where Pakistani military actions have reportedly targeted civilian areas, resulting in the tragic loss of innocent lives, including women and children.

Such acts represent a serious violation of international humanitarian law and fundamental human rights. The protection of civilians, especially vulnerable groups such as women and children, must remain a priority under all circumstances. Deliberate or indiscriminate attacks against civilians are unacceptable and demand immediate international attention.

ADO calls upon the international community, including Amnesty International, United Nations, and other relevant global human rights bodies, to urgently investigate these incidents and ensure accountability. We further urge judicial institutions such as the International Criminal Court to take necessary steps to examine these actions under international law.

We emphasize that justice and accountability are essential to prevent further violence and to uphold the rights and dignity of affected communities. ADO stands in solidarity with the victims and their families and calls for immediate measures to protect civilians and prevent future violations.
