A humanitarian crisis is deepening as millions of Afghans are being forced to return from Iran and Pakistan.

Since September 2023, more than 4 million people have crossed back into Afghanistan—many under pressure, with little choice, and into a country already gripped by poverty and repression.

Reception centers at the borders are overwhelmed. Families arrive exhausted, dehydrated, and without proper shelter. Children and women—often alone—face the gravest risks.

Aid groups warn: without urgent international support, this could spiral into one of the worst refugee crises in years.

New Quake Strikes Kunar After 1,411 Killed

Taliban government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid has confirmed that at least 1,411 people have been killed in Kunar province, the area worst hit by Sunday’s powerful magnitude 6.0 earthquake.

Adding to the devastation, a new 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck the same region today, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). The quake was recorded 34 km (21 miles) northeast of Jalalabad, at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles), hitting at 12:29 GMT.
