A High Surf Advisory is in effect for Antigua, Barbuda, Montserrat, Anguilla and the British Virgin Islands.
π Affected Areas: Mainly northern and eastern facing coastlines, especially reefs and exposed nearshore areas.
π Timing:
Antigua & Barbuda: Fri morning β Sat morning
Montserrat: Fri morning β Sat dawn
Anguilla: Fri mid-morning β Sat mid-morning
British Virgin Islands: Fri midday β Sat evening
π What to Expect:
Moderate long-period swells creating dangerous surfs of 2β3 m (6β10 ft), strong rip currents, localized coastal flooding, and beach erosion.
Significant wave heights: 1.5β2.1 m (5β7 ft), locally near 2.7 m (9 ft).
Breaking surfs could exceed 1.8 m (6 ft).
π¨ Potential Impacts:
Strong currents that can carry even strong swimmers out to sea
Injuries to beachgoers & beach erosion
Seawater splashing onto low-lying coastal roads
Localized disruptions to marine recreation & businesses
Damage to coral reefs and saltwater intrusion

Safety Tips:
Avoid swimming on affected beaches; use only beaches with lifeguards or sheltered southern beaches
Stay away from rocky and non-beach coastlines
Rip currents: If caught, relax & float. Donβt swim against the current. Swim parallel to the shore or call/wave for help
