Initially Planet Chill was a collection of chillout series lauched early 2012 as a collaboration between renowned electronic act York and major Dutch record label, Armada Music.

2015 saw the move of the Planet Chill series from Armada Music to Black Hole Recordings. Concurrent, in a desire to sign independent artist releases, Planet Chill became Planet Chill Records - a registered sub-label of B

lack Hole Recordings. Planet Chill Records is owned and operated by York producer Torsten Stenzel, while Black Hole Recordings handles distribution of everything Planet Chill related. Planet Chill Records offers exclusive single releases by diverse artists within the downtempo genre while simultaneously focusing on the 'Planet Chill - Compiled by York' chillout series.

Back in year 2004, then living in Ibiza, Torsten collaborated with German hypnotherapist and lecturer Axel Maertsch on three meditation albums (German only), self-published. Inspiration drawn from Ibiza culture and surroundings.
